Watson won’t flip off paps

By Alexandra Heilbron on July 12, 2007 | 33 Comments

Emma WatsonEmma Watson was shopping in Los Angeles this week when TMZ.com cameramen zeroed in on her and asked her to wave. She complied, so the paparazzi went one step further and asked her to flip them off. British born Emma laughed and asked Maria Menounos, who was interviewing the Harry Potter star, what they meant. Getting the answer, Emma’s face registered a moment of shock as she turned to the paps and replied, “No!”, then burst out laughing. Those crazy Yanks….

Why should anyone care what Emma Watson does?! It’s not like she’s Paris or Li-Lo…

what I find funny is she didn’t know what it meant to flip them off.

And they wanted her to do it to ruin her image as a star in a child’s movie, make studios question casting her again.

    She’s either a prude or a square.

  8. Alexandra • July 13, 2007 @ 9:09 AM

What is wrong w/ ppl, first of all she probably didnt know what it meant because shes English, we have a lot of sayings they dont understand and trust me they have even more that I dont understand, like what does Take the Mickey out of her mean and derive from and so on. She comes off as a sweet girl and has manners and some sort of sense of what is right and proper and what is wrong. I dont think that it deserves her to being called a prude or uptight just because she has manners and is polite. Maybe you should be questioning the paparazzi behavior to even ask or want her to flip them off. I hate to group ppl into a huge labeled group but Americans can be so rude and crass it doesnt surprise me that they asked that, Im Canadian and we arent much better but in my experience its us ppl who live in North America who are the rude questionable ppl, Europeans are much more well mannered and polite in comparison to us as are their paparazzi are far less aggressive. One last thing ppl need to remember we all have things we have done that we are less than proud of the only difference is that we dont have millions of ppl constantly in our faces and trying to dig up every last thing about us, think how much of your dirty laundry you wouldnt want aired out for the world to see. And thank god shes not as messed up as Paris and Li-Lo, she has a much firmer grip on REAL life.

I agree fully wih ‘stephanie’! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE EMMA WATSON! She has dinity and proper manners, and people don’t see that often! Everyone needs to grow up! Papparazzi is becoming way out of control! They’re asking a 16 year old British girl to flip them off! How horrible is that! You people making fun of her need to buzz off!
Luv you Emma, and I totally can’t wait to see you in HP5! XD

um what exactly does flip them off mean?

  16. Alexandra • July 13, 2007 @ 4:21 PM

  17. Sofia • July 13, 2007 @ 6:36 PM

I’m very proud of Emma, I mean, where in Hollywood would you find an actress that’s so much like her!!! She’s very intelligent(a straight A student), very down-to-earth, clean-looking, humble and very talented!!! Plus she and her other Harry Potter co-stars are very much grounded!!! Unlike those of young stars in Hollywood when they know they have money they think they can do everything or anything they want!!! As well as emma does not only think about her being an actress herself but also she thinks about her future, which is going to a university!!! I believe she can do it!!! There’s NO ONE like Emma Watson in Hollywood!!! GO EMMA GO!!!!

  18. Jeremy • July 13, 2007 @ 7:07 PM

    She’s so dull!!!

  19. natalie • July 13, 2007 @ 8:01 PM

what do they mean by “flip them off”

  20. Vera • July 14, 2007 @ 2:17 PM

Emma is one of the best teenage actress and what stephanie said is very true

  21. Armpit Hair • July 14, 2007 @ 3:32 PM

Once she finishes Potter, no one will be the slightest bit interested. She’s NOT Paris Hilton and her fame will be fleeting.

  22. josh • July 14, 2007 @ 4:54 PM

emma has more talent than paris and “li-Lo” put together it’s nice to see someone with class for once

  23. Karin • July 14, 2007 @ 7:46 PM

I agree with the anonymous person. I think that the paps just wanted to make her look bad. From interviews I’ve seen with Conan O’Brian, she seems like the nicest person ever. I also think that she handled it very well by laughing it off. You can’t always take everything so seriously.

  24. MOUNTAIN MAN • July 15, 2007 @ 6:04 AM

Emma Watson’s net worth is a testament to her incredible success as an actress and activist. With her iconic role as Hermione Granger in the “Harry Potter” series and subsequent work in various film projects, she has amassed a substantial fortune. However, what’s even more commendable is how she has used her platform and wealth to advocate for gender equality and social causes. Emma’s dedication to philanthropy and activism demonstrates that her impact extends far beyond the entertainment industry. Her net worth https://www.emmawatson.net/net-worth is not just a measure of financial success but also a reflection of her commitment to making the world a better place.
