Wreck-It Ralph demolishes the box office

The animated comedy Wreck-It Ralph topped the box office on its debut weekend and demolished the competition by raking in an impressive $49 million. Starring  John C. Reilly as Wreck-It Ralph, Tribute.ca users give this movie about a video game villain longing to a be good guy an impressive 4.5 out of a possible 5 stars. Robert Zemecki’s Flight came in second, making $25 million on its opening weekend and earning a respectable 4 stars. Flight has Denzel Washington acting as airline captain William “Whip” Whitaker who is called a hero for saving the lives of hundreds of passengers, only to then have his bravado questioned when a blood test reveals alcohol was in his system. For its fourth weekend in theaters, Ben Affleck’s Iranian hostage crisis film Argo drops two spots to third place, pulling in an additional $10.3 million. Loosely based on a 1970s rescue of six U.S. diplomats, Argo still holds a strong 4 star rating on Tribute.ca. Rated at 3.8 stars, the action film Taken 2, starring Liam Neeson as an ex-C.I.A. operative rounded out the top five, adding $6 million to its $125 million total gross. ~Brandon Bastaldo
