Justice found for Jennifer Hudson’s family

William Balfour (left) has been found guilty of murdering Jennifer Hudson‘s mother, brother and nephew. In October 2008, Darnell Hudson, 57, was found in the living room of her own home, murdered by a gunshot to her back and Jennifer’s brother Jason, 29, was found in his bedroom with two shots to his head. Both were pronounced dead at the scene of the crime and an Amber Alert was issued for Jennifer’s seven-year-old nephew, Julian King. Three days later, Julian was found dead in the back of an SUV, also with shots in the head. Balfour, the ex-husband of Jennifer’s sister Julia, was arrested for the murders. It’s believed Balfour went on his murder spree after Julia received balloons from her new boyfriend on her birthday, the day before the murders. Balfour’s trial commenced in April 2012. Prosecutors built a substantial case by calling over 80 people, including Jennifer, to the stand. Following three days of deliberations, jurors found Balfour guilty of all seven counts (three counts of first degree murder, one count of home invasion, one for residential burglary, one for possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and one count of aggravated kidnapping). Public defender Amy Thompson announced she will appeal the verdict, saying, “It has always been our position and it still is that William Balfour is innocent of these murders.” Balfour faces life behind bars. ~Krystin Edgerton

What a bastard, I hope he gets killed first day in prison. R.I.P. to Jennifer Hudson’s family.

This was such a sad story…I hope he rots in jail too. What’s really sad is that this story got so much attention just because it was a celebrity’s family. I bet it owuldn’t have been such a big deal in the media if it was just your average everyday family

That verdict came just hours before they found Michael Rafferty guilty of all counts in the Tori Stafford murder case. Justice was served in both cases. It might not bring anyone back, but it’s good to know murderers are behind bars and that they’re going to stay there.
