Another pop star is ready to enter the Hollywood spotlight. Lady Gaga recently landed her debut role in Robert Rodriguez's upcoming sequel, Machete Kills, alongside Sofia Vergara, Mel Gibson and Jessica Alba. The director unveiled the news when he posted the link to the poster featuring Gaga (pictured at left) with the tweet, "I just finished working with @LadyGaga on @MacheteKills, she kicked SO MUCH ASS! Holy Smokes. Blown away!" The singer also confirmed the news via Twitter, writing, "Yes it’s true, I will be making my debut as an actress in the amazing MACHETE KILLS BY @RODRIGUEZ IM SO EXCITED!!! AH! Filming was insane." Gaga will presumably be playing a character named La Chameleón in the film, but not much else is known about the role or how big it is. Machete Kills, a follow-up to Rodriguez's 2010 film Machete, is about an ex-cop who is recruited by the U.S. government to take down a ruthless arms leader in Mexico. It's expected to be released some time next year.
