Mark Wahlberg cast in Transformers 4

Director Michael Bay, who worked with Mark Wahlberg for the upcoming film Pain & Gain, recently announced on his website that Wahlberg will star in his sequel, Transformers 4, which is expected to hit theaters in June 2014. “Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on Pain & Gain and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to reinvigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers legacy,” said Bay. Steven Spielberg will once again serve as executive producer and filming will begin next spring. The Transformers franchise began in 2007 with the first film grossing over $700 million worldwide, followed by the second film, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, raking in over $830 million in 2009. That’s nothing compared to the third film, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which grossed over $1 billion in 2011. ~ Luxy Hariharan

    Doesn’t matter. Bay = idiotic script + explosions. It’ll suck as hard as the rest of them.

    Re-invigorate a franchise that keeps raking in more $ each time?… Where does it need a boost?
    But either way it’s got the fan base already and will do well I’m sure.

    Yeah, if you want to save the transformers franchise than you need to catapult Michael Bay to the dark side of the moon. He’s a horrible director; I think he gets his scripts exclusively from pyrotechnicians.

    Nothing to be excited about.

    I didn’t think he’d make another movie as bad as Planet of the Apes, but I see now I was mistaken.

    @Snepts I think you are forgetting “the happening”

    Transformers is a washed up franchise. I don’t know why people flock to the theatres to see it. The first one was alright but the others were horrible. I didn’t even bother watching the last one. Michael Bay do us all a favour and stick to what you know, and stop ruining my childhood. I can only pray that the Ninja Turtles don’t turn into a piece of harping horse turd. At least we have bad boys 3 to look forward to.

    I don’t think they need to make another one of the transformers movie for the fourth one. They should stay with up the third one. The last one was alright and the girl couldn’t act very good. Making another one of the transformers movie would be a waste of time and money. The first one was way better. But if they are planning on doing another one make sure the script is very good.

    Oh, no you didn’t!!!

    My thoughts exactly Racquel. I am however doubtful the script would get better. Kids these days will eat any garbage they put on screen. There is no value in story telling anymore. Sure there are some decent movies, but majority of movies are a waste of time. As long as these transformers movies rack in money for the studio they’ll be putting more on screen. It’ll be a never ending cycle until the film finally bombs at the box office. I remember way back when when Michael Bay didn’t want to continue with the franchise after the second. My guess is the studio threatened to move forward with another director, and Bay a coward he is begged to return. I am sure his HUGE salary had a lot to do with his change of mind about the franchise. No wonder the other cast members moved on, this franchise is dead, and the studio is racking it in with the lifeless body.

    I won’t even pay to the see the forth one. I’ll see it but I am not gonna pay for it (;

    The movie is being written by the same guy who wrote the last two movies, not including the first. All the hope I had for this movie are loooooooooong gone.

    Come on people, give the movie a chance before you start criticizing it.

    @Clark
    Most of us gave Michael Bay 3 chances; he managed to dissappoint and fakk-up everytime.

    I’m not a fan of reboots, but this franchise is the exception.

    The Transformers movies did so well because kids and fan boys of the classic cartoon or the action figures go crazy for it. I personally dont mind them. They are eye cand. I predict that the fourth wont do as well as the first 3 though but it wont be a flop either.

  16. Nobody Important • November 12, 2012 @ 4:31 AM

    Yeah, they were ALL eye-candy NO script.
