ELIZABETH PERKINS
Date of Birth: November 18, 1960
Although Perkins was born in Queen's, New York, she was raised in Vermont. After high school,
Perkins headed for Chicago to pursue an acting career. While in the windy city, she trained
at the Goodman School of Drama. In three years (1984-87) Perkins achieved more than most actors
accomplish in a lifetime. She costarred in the touring company of Neil Simon's Brighton Beach
Memoirs, married Chicago-based actor Terry Kinney, was featured on Broadway, and made her film
debut in About Last Night... (1986).
Perkins has had mixed success in the years following her debut film. She costarred in the
blockbuster Big (1988) with Tom Hanks, and 1994's The Flintstones, in which she
portrayed the long-suffering Wilma. She also was cast in semi-successful films such as He Said, She Said (1991), Miracle on 34th Street (1994), and Cats & Dogs (2001), as well as providing the voice of Coral in Finding Nemo (2003).
On TV, she provided the voice of several characters on the animated series King of the Hill. For her role as Celia Hodes on the Showtime series Weeds (2005 to 2009) she earned three Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe nominations.
