Synopsis

Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp), the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, is shot during a public presentation. Almost simultaneously several research labs are blown up by a group of protesters called RIFT (Revolutionary Independence From Technology), led by the ruthless and intelligent Bree (Kate Mara).

Little do the protesters realize that their actions inadvertently become the catalyst for Will to be a participant in his own transcendence. His wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max Waters (Paul Bettany), both fellow researchers, upload Will’s brain to a computer, keeping his conscious alive while his body dies.

No longer limited only to his mortal frame, Will now inhabits the realm of the Internet.
