During a recent appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman, Anne Heche got a little sarcastic about what her ex-husband Coley Laffoon, the father of her seven-year-old son, Homer, is doing lately: “He goes out to the mailbox and he opens up the little mailbox door and goes, ‘Oh! I got a check from Anne! Oh! I got a check from Anne! Yay!’ ” While married to Laffoon, Heche began an affair with her Men in Trees co-star, James Tupper. She drove the dagger in deeper, saying, “Don’t get married. Forever engaged is a wonderful romantic thing to do.” True to her own advice, Heche, whose former lovers include Steve Martin and Ellen DeGeneres, is not married to Tupper, who is the father of her five-month-old son, Atlas. She’s likely bitter about her failed marriage because she tried unsuccessfully to get out of child support payments when her series (for which she earned $65,000 per episode) was cancelled. Speaking to Us Weekly, Lafoon, who currently works for a real estate company, said: “I was disturbed to see Anne taking out her personal frustration on the father of her child on national television.” On his Facebook page he wrote: “I wish Anne could see that public bullying isn’t good for the soul or positive for her child.” Heche is currently working on a new HBO series called Hung and can presumably, now afford to pay child support.
