Beyonce’s bodyguard killed by police

Norman ‘Dutch Giant’ Oosterbroek (pictured at left in gray suit), who worked for years as a bodyguard for Beyoncé and her husband, Jay Z, has been killed by police in Miami. Oosterbroek, 43, was fired by the celebrity couple after they found out he’d hired a prostitute in Las Vegas when he was supposed to be on duty, according to the New York Daily News. The bodyguard videotaped the act, which also involved him using the family’s passports in a “lewd” way. A source said, “Beyoncé and Jay Z were furious when they found out. They trusted Norman with their lives and then he went and did some pretty freaky things, and on video with a hooker. They were outraged.” Afterwards, the couple no longer trusted Oosterbroek with their young daughter and decided to let him go.

“They really thought Norman was now a danger to Blue Ivy,” said the source. “From what I understand he was devastated, because a lot of people in the industry knew that he couldn’t be trusted and not to hire him.” After losing his job, Oosterbroek, who previously had also worked for Lady Gaga and Rihanna, went on a downward spiral. While on drugs and completely naked, he broke into a Miami mansion on September 2 and punched the resident. Police were called to the scene and tasered the former bodyguard, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

We need to get tasers out of the hands of cops and instead, teach them how to deal with the mentally ill. They didn’t need to kill the guy, just restrain him until he was off the drugs.

@Smuckers. Maybe you need to walk in the shoes of a police officer for a while before making such an ingnorant comment. If some giant dude breaks into my house completely naked and punches me, the police have every right to taser him. Or would you prefer they had a nice chat over tea to understand his ‘mental illness’. Stupid.

I agree, Smuckers. But Ammuurrricans luuuuvvvv their ghun8s. That is why they shake their heads at yet another mass shooting or when children die and yet do absolutely NOTHING of significance to reduce the amount or distribution of guns in the country.
When the States learns to become a civilized nation, I might have hope for it. But almost every article I read about your society discourages me. No health care but we gots ta have our gunnnns.
    Sad.

Easy for you to say as you sit at home, safe in front of your computer screen. Have you ever dealt with a mentally ill individual? How about trying to restrain an individual? Now think about all the factors together, a drug induced mentally ill aggressor that does not want to be restrained. Taser is a less lethal than a firearm and the best way to assist in restraining. Unfortunately in this case, the individual passed on, but likely brought on by the amount of drugs in his system. No fault of the police officers.

The taser doesn’t actually kill people. What happened is the bodyguard guard was in a state of excited delirium due to the drugs and that is what lead to his death. When someone is in this state the can preform feats of strength that are unmatched and I have seen it take as many as 6 officers to just control one person with excited delirium. Another common cause of death after police taser someone is positional asphyxia. I agree that a police officer should be well trained, but the media blows everything out of proportion and they are neither trained in the proper use of tasers and the don’t know what the taser is capable of doing

This doses not sound like Police out of control at all. adults are strong already, trained, drugged and enraged adults are even worse. The taser was intended to save his life and protect the police not kill him.
Before posting stuff you don’t know about, look up the affects of bites from humans (as close hand to hand could go there). Who knows what this guy had in his system as well.
You just never know what you are going to deal with in an encoutner with anyone.
You weren’t there nor was I but IF this is accurate reporting of the incident (hopefully) then the taser sounds like it would have been the safest route to go.
An unarmed attacker is still dangerous and now we know that this guy was also a trained bodyguard (which the police may not have even known) so you could add that to the danger.

There’s no way the guy on this picture is 43.

  8. Germain • September 19, 2013 @ 11:44 AM

This article says he was pronounced dead at the scene. This is from another news article
“He was taken to hospital after being tasered by Florida police following an incident where he broke in to a woman’s house in the nude and began to beat her.He later died, but the cause of death is as yet unknown.”

  9. Janet • September 19, 2013 @ 11:56 AM

He could be 43, but he does look older, like maybe 50. But sometimes people look older or younger than their actual age.

People have died from the application of tasers. However, if a person is out of control and threatening to harm others, the police are within their rights to subdue that person. Maybe police should have better training in the use of these weapons.

  11. Kris • September 19, 2013 @ 12:21 PM

Nobody has ever died from a taser application. There is always another factor as previous commentators have indicated. Drugs, pre-existing health issue, positional asphyxia and many more. As many have already said, learn the facts.

Certain drugs give extra adrenaline and it is hard to restrain such folks….add height and weight….cops sometimes have few choices…we do need to give them a break.

first comment, was obviously misinformed. Germain, thanks for adding more to the story. Sometimes this site totally seems to try to omit certain parts of a story just to ilicit convo. Tasering is considered ‘less lethal’ method of dealnig with someone. “Dutch Giant’ on drugs was beating a woman. I’m shocked the US police officer didn’t gun him down! The weapon of choce is a gun. If the taser might possibly even remotely be the cause of death I think it’s still better then the bean bag guns and actual bullets. It seemed to have work and got the giant to a hospital subdued and likely saved the life of the woman he was beating.

  14. Dave • September 19, 2013 @ 3:47 PM

After hanging out with pretentious celebrities, I’d probably want to be TASERED to death too…

  15. Sam • September 19, 2013 @ 8:12 PM

@david I think your the one who is ignorant on the subject, solving violence with more violence doesn’t fix the problem it kills people who need help….maybe you need to walk a mile of someone who is mentally ill or suffering from addiction.

As for health issues or substance abuse problems being the only reason to cause death from a taser is false. As a nurse I study cases all the time outside of North America where this has happened on several occasions.

  16. Webber • September 20, 2013 @ 1:03 AM

I believe they have the wrong guy in the picture…they say he is pictured on the Left…but he is on the right…and he looks much older than 43. It may be the guy who is picture behind the guy in the grey suit.

  17. Webber • September 20, 2013 @ 1:09 AM

I guess it was him in the grey suit! Omit my previous statement!

  18. Joanna • September 21, 2013 @ 11:31 PM

You guys should move to Canada, the police taser 80 year old women because they are walking on the wrong side of the road! How’s that for brutality!

  19. Carol • September 22, 2013 @ 5:05 PM

I live in Canada and I never heard of such a thing-where did this supposedly happen…
