Black Eyed Peas not paid for Super Bowl

The Black Eyed Peas headlined the 2011 Super Bowl

The Black Eyed Peas, Slash and Usher were not paid to perform at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show, because the exposure is considered to be enough reward, according to Forbes. More than 100 million viewers watch the Super Bowl annually and many musicians who play the halftime slot have seen boosts in record sales following the 12-minute show. “Historically, artists do not receive a performance fee for appearing in the Super Bowl halftime show,” attorney Lori Landew told the magazine. “But their expenses, which can be sizable depending on the size of the act and their entourage, are covered. You can’t underestimate the additional impact of all the promotion leading up to the game and the show. It’s a great opportunity for an artist to get tremendous exposure, particularly with audiences that are not normally fans.”

They didn’t deserve to be paid after that performance.

You got that right. I like a lot of their music, but it was pathetic. They rely so heavily on background beats and pre-recorded stuff, that it doesn’t translate well live.

Fergie needs to ditch those guys – much better on her own, though her cover of Guns n’ Roses wasn’t that great either.

Agree with the other posters. They even butchered their big hit.

Aree with all the comments so far, they weren’t very good…everything seemed “just off”.

And now more than 100 million viewers think the Black Eye Peas suck. Oh an nadine, the BEPs were actually quite good before Fergie.

well I think the choice of B.I.P’s was ridiculous anyways as they are not current and they are not multi genre…they are what was big a couple of years ago…poor choice…that being said if you had it playing through your steroe you’d realize the performance sucking wasn’t their faults as fergie’s mic was on and off as was some of the background singers…..whoever set up the equipment dropped the ball huge here
