Canadian show auditioning for “Gleeks”

Global Television is launching an original show called Canada Sings! and is looking for groups of singers who work together in regular jobs. “We’re calling out to these talented voices simmering within the workplace to come forward and show us what they’ve got,”said Christine Shipton, a Senior VP at Canwest Broadcasting. Each week the show will visit two different offices (or factories, or where ever you work) to hold auditions. Glee clubs that are chosen will get a chance to complete on television in front of a live audience. The contestants will be guided by professional choreographers, music directors and vocal coaches and will be judged by a panel of experts. The winning glee club will win a donation to their favorite charity. “We’re looking for dynamic everyday people with extraordinary talent,” said executive producer John Brunton. “From the person whistling on the assembly line next to you, to the nurse in pediatrics that sings the children to sleep and the waiter that can really sing happy birthday to the guests, we’re so excited to see what Canada brings to the table.” Applications for Canada Sings! are available online but must be submitted before September 22.

The ‘singing office’ anyone? Hosted by Mel B and Joey Fatone, it was on TLC. Mel B and Joey each went to a company, took their 5 best singers from the office, taught them to sing a song with a dance routine, and then the two workplaces went head to head. Then a winner was chosen. It was more comedic than what Canada Sings! sounds like, but still very similar.

I never heard of singing office, but this sounds like it would be fun.
