Comic-Con: First look at Wonder Woman in Batman v. Superman

Holy Wonder Woman, Batman! Day 4 at Comic-Con was a loud one! Director Zack Snyder kicked things off at the Warner Bros. panel on Saturday when he gave clamoring fans more than just a teaser of the highly-anticipated Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. After welcoming his Dark Knight and Man of Steel actors to the stage, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, Snyder introduced Israeli actress, Gal Gadot, who plays Wonder Woman a.k.a. Diana Prince in the upcoming superhero team-up. For the character’s first live-action theatrical appearance, many fans wondered what the Goddess of Truth would look like. As Gadot walked onstage, the massive screen in Hall H revealed the first and long-awaited image of Wonder Woman’s battle suit, complete with her trademark tiara, indestructible bracelets, and eagle-themed chest armor. And is that the Lasso of Truth by her right hip?

There’s a lot for hardcore fans to dissect in this simple albeit epic image. Heavy on gold and bronze, the Xena-look-alike costume is dark and metallic. Seen wielding a sword in a rocky, volcanic landscape, this Wonder Woman is clearly armed and ready for battle. And what’s with all the fire and brimstone? Is the background a promotional backdrop or will Snyder be taking audiences to an exotic location?
