Dwayne Johnson’s emotional Fourth of July

Just because he’s known as The Rock doesn’t mean Dwayne Johnson can’t shed a few tears. While most people were spending the Fourth of July enjoying outdoor cookouts and fireworks with their close ones, Dwayne and his family decided to pay their respects to those who have fallen.
The San Andreas actor, pictured at left with daughter Simone Alexandra, took his family to the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta, just in time for Independence Day. Dwayne was particularly moved after visiting a memorial for the four little girls who were killed in 1963 when a bomb went off at a Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama.
Dwayne took to Instagram to share his thoughts: “Powerful and emotional day for me and my family at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta, GA. Took a long moment here and closed my eyes while the church hymns played thru the speakers paying respect to these four beautiful little girls who were killed by falling rubble after a bomb exploded at the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963.”
He continued: “Couldn’t help but shed a tear thinking about my own young daughters and how I live to provide for and protect them. It’s how we all feel about our babies. Provide, educate, protect and love. Celebrating our country’s independence I wanted to dig a bit deeper to gain more knowledge/perspective on our history. Really grateful I did. Enjoy your families today.”
The trip was undoubtedly a well-deserved break for Dwayne and his family. The actor has has starred in several major motion pictures recently, including The Fate of the Furious, Baywatch and the upcoming Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. He’s currently gearing up to shoot an action-adventure flick based on the video game, Rampage. The film will also star Naomie Harris, Joe Manganiello and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. ~Brenden Zerihun

Warner Bros. Pictures Canada announced that Dwayne Johnson will visit Toronto this October to celebrate the release of his upcoming DC film, ‘Black Adam.’
I heard about this in a documentary I watched last year. Very sad event, it’s good that he’s bringing it some attention. I hope things have changed down South for the better, though I think it’s taking a really long time.
