Elton John thinks Jesus was gay

By Alexandra Heilbron on February 20, 2010 | 62 Comments

elton_johnSir Elton John thinks Jesus was a “super-intelligent gay man.” The 62-year-old singer was speaking about the plight of homosexual people around the world when he made the controversial comment. He confirmed he believed in God, but not the cruel way many people interpret him to persecute gay people. “I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems,” Elton told Parade magazine. “On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don’t know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East – you’re as good as dead.” Elton also spoke about the perils of being famous in the modern age. He was horrified by the deaths of Michael Jackson, John Lennon, Princess Diana and Gianni Versace, insisting they would still be alive if they hadn’t been celebrities. “Two of them shot outside their houses. None of this would have happened if they hadn’t been famous. Fame attracts lunatics,” he said. “’I never had a bodyguard ever until Gianni died. I don’t like celebrity anymore.”

So now this old fart is completely out of his mind!!! Get yourself checked out, you stupid guy!!!

  2. tributegirl • February 20, 2010 @ 9:53 AM

I love Elton, but this is stupid.

  3. B • February 20, 2010 @ 9:55 AM

This is going to help you on your way of losing your celebrity

  4. ugh • February 20, 2010 @ 11:29 AM

what a moron… just because you like playing the pole doesn’t mean everyone does.

  5. sam • February 20, 2010 @ 1:21 PM

So just because he thinks Jesus was gay he’s a moron? I don’t understand why it’s so wrong to think that Jesus could of been gay.

  6. Nancy • February 20, 2010 @ 3:13 PM

    He’s crazy!

    R.I.P. Bon Scott.

  7. Sam • February 20, 2010 @ 5:12 PM

It’s really kind of sad. Someone expresses their opinion, their belief, and everyone jumps down his throat about it. Who’s to say Jesus wasn’t gay? Who’s to say Jesus was even a guy? All you know is what you have been told and what you believe. You read this stuff from a book, the Holy Bible, and how does a book come to be? Can you answer that? It’s written by a person. By one person, with one opinion. Then it gets remade, re-written, by another person, possibly with the same opinion but with slight differences. In the end, thousands of years later, that book will have been changed. It will not represent what it should have in the beginning, and the beliefs and “rules” in that book will have changed. So do yourself a favor, leave everyone else alone in their religion, and they will leave you alone. If Elton thinks Jesus was gay, that’s his opinion. If you think he was some straight masculine guy who had a big beard and ended up nailed to a cross, that’s your opinion. EVERYONE has different beliefs. Accept it and move on.

  8. tributegirl • February 20, 2010 @ 6:35 PM

If you knew anything about the bible, anything at all, you would realize that you are a moron too.
Nancy, Bon Scott? Ummmm, that’s been awhile, hasn’t it?

  9. nevercomments • February 20, 2010 @ 7:37 PM

If you knew anything about the bible, you wouldn’t be calling people morons!

  10. mandee • February 20, 2010 @ 8:17 PM

sam and Sam i agree with both of your statements.

clearly elton knew this would cause a stir and a ton of bad publicity. everyone in the world knows that it doesnt matter WHAT your opinion is people with other religious opinions are going to flip out, berate you, condemn you, call you ignorant names, accuse you of being wrong, stupid, going to hell etc etc etc. as it turns out, people WITHOUT a specified religion are the ones that are actually tolerant of other people and other peoples beliefs. do any of you believe GOD would have wanted you to come on this site and insult elton or the other people commenting THEIR OPINIONS on what was said? do you think GOD would have wanted someone to be called “a moron” because they dont believe in the bible? i personally dont put any ounce of belief or consideration into the bible. for the same reason. ANYONE can write a book and say god or jesus told them to do it. anyone can write a book and say this is how things were or will be and people will buy it because it gives them peace of mind. it gives them hope. the bible is just a book. no one can dictate what another person should believe in, what religion they should be or whether or not that person is going to hell for what they choose to have faith in. i dont have a specific religion because i havent found one yet that suits everything i feel, believe or think. does this mean IM going to hell? i still talk to god, believe in god, i just dont believe that god would have wanted others to discriminate against people based on their religion, belief, faith, sexual preference, race, size, etc. how can one religion say if you eat meat with dairy youre going to hell, another religion say if youre gay youre going to hell, another religion say if you dont believe in god youre going to hell? with the amount of different religious beliefs out there how can anyone take one book and put so much thought into it? religion isnt really anything, its what YOU choose to believe it is.

  11. Lar • February 20, 2010 @ 8:39 PM

His remarks are proof of his senility.
Hey, Elton, go back to playing your skin flute and rusty trombone.
In this case, you are the famouse lunatic!

  12. mandee • February 20, 2010 @ 8:51 PM

my sister said when you look this conversation up, elton meant gay as in happy not as in homosexual. if thats the way he meant it its pretty unfair of you all to insult him.

  13. Nancy • February 20, 2010 @ 9:35 PM

Tributegirl: 30 years ago Feb. 19th. Just remembering, LOL.

  14. demigod • February 20, 2010 @ 11:26 PM

Sure, and his 12 apostles were gay with him. Where does Mary Magdalene the prostitute fit into all this? lol
It’s outrageous to believe he was gay, but not outrageous to believe he walked on water.

  15. beast • February 21, 2010 @ 12:12 AM

He lived over 2000 years ago, for all we know he could have been gay. Just because it dosent say so in the bible or other sources, who’s to say it can’t be possible. None of us knew him, many things are left out of history and religious texts. Does it really matter if he was gay, no! Elton if voicing a possibility, his opinion. Calling someone a moron or stupid for voicing their thoughts out loud is BS.

  16. underzenith • February 21, 2010 @ 2:03 AM

haha mandee when you put it like that it doesn’t seem bad, but then again I don’t know how sure you can be with Elton John…

  17. Joshua • February 21, 2010 @ 4:43 AM

The only thing I really have to say is, “It’s kinda sad to see most of the comments on here”. I’m not looking to say anything to further offend anyone but I do feel that most of the comments are a bit childish. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, you don’t have to agree with the guy but you don’t have to lower yourself by making such immature statements. Just my opinion.

  18. Carol • February 21, 2010 @ 9:37 AM

SIR JOHN – you don’t need this kind of publicity – God is God and you are you – gay or straight – WHY would you do this?????

  19. tributegirl • February 21, 2010 @ 9:48 AM

Carol, bingo, he’s not a stupid man, he knew this would cause much controversy and upset a lot of people, plus the fact that he has absolutely no way of knowing if Jesus was gay (which I don’t believe by the way, because of Mary Magdalene, as demigod pointed out, but that’s just my opinion), so why cause all this upset? He is entitled to his own opinion, I agree, but his reasons behind voicing this particular opinion are a little iffy.

  20. ugh • February 21, 2010 @ 12:23 PM

sam… don’t you see the total religious paradox that would arise?

homosexuality is forbidden, jesus was a religious icon/prohphet/son of god….

If jesus was gay, it would condemn him to hell (for the religions that believe in this condemnation).

    use your head.

  21. sgt.pepper • February 21, 2010 @ 1:35 PM

I find it hard to believe that Jesus would have been gay, but it’s definitely an interesting point of view. Elton sure knows how to stir the pot. This is a time of gay liberation and it’s been a long time coming. It was only a matter of time before the idea of Jesus being gay was thrown around.

  22. mandee • February 21, 2010 @ 1:41 PM

ugh on February 21, 2010 12:23 PM homosexuality is ONLY forbidden by a book that clearly a PERSON wrote. theres actually no proof that god disagrees with homosexuality, and theres no proof that jesus WASNT gay. theres also NO PROOF that the bible is anything more than someone simply becoming bored and wanting to see how many people would be dumb enough to read and swear by his book. lol.

  23. Carol • February 21, 2010 @ 8:33 PM

WOW…I do believe in the Bible, I do believe in God, and as much as I enjoyed reading the Divinci Code I have no belief in what they were saying about religion. I love Elton John, he is true talent, BUT…to say what was said is blashomy…I do not believe what he said, I personally don’t condone what he said. This is the problem with the world…Further more, why does everyone feel such a deep need to make Jesus out to be gay, married or anything else. He was a healer, God’s right hand man! We all need something or someone to hold on to, we need the faith that came to us YES over 2000 years ago, without it we have nothing!

  24. mandee • February 21, 2010 @ 10:31 PM

whats so wrong with jesus having been a man, a woman, gay, married, straight, black, white, asian?? i dont see what the big deal is. EVERYONE has the right to choose their own religion and faith so why do they not get to choose what they feel jesus was like? were any of you around back when jesus was alive? can any of you even prove he existed? or is it all based on hearsay or what you read in a book?

  25. Jessica • February 22, 2010 @ 1:18 AM

What happened to God (and Jesus I guess) accepting people who they ARE not who they LOVE?

And like people have said already on here, he existed, what, 2000+ years ago? Where is the proof?!?

And Carol, so what? He was a healer, big fricken deal. Maybe he was a GAY healer. Is it so hard to grasp that concept? Why is it that “God” is said to accept everyone, but when the word “gay” is thrown out there, it’s like the damn apocalypse has hit Earth?

    I just don’t get it.

  26. jane • February 22, 2010 @ 1:37 AM

Favorite personal quote: “Protect me, God, from your followers!”
Organized religion is a political structure, not a spiritual one, bent on gaining power. The Bible was not written by only one person, and it`s been revised many times over the years by people in power who thought they knew better what the masses should be told or not.
I do believe that tolerance, and striving to be better, kinder, and more compasionate is the way towards divinity, and that the more intolerant a person is, the more dangerous. Fanaticism, no matter in which religion, leads to cruelty and destruction, and is to be feared. I think one should follow his/her beliefes, but leave room in one`s mind for “but I could be wrong”.
    However, I could be wrong!
    🙂

  27. jane • February 22, 2010 @ 2:01 AM

Also favorite quote, from Karl Vonnegut:
“I am a humanist, which means, in part, I have tryed to behave decently without any expectations of reward or punishment after I’m dead.”…”If what Jesus said was good, what can it matter is he was God or not?”
Carol, I’m sure by now you are running to get the holly water, as that would amount to ‘blashomy’ (or blasphemy, as the rest of us know it)(I suggest dictionary.com; wonderful site!), but you might want to stop first and check your facts with your bible: according to it Jesus was not ‘a healer, God’s right hand man’, but the son of God, and God himself. If you want to hold on to believes based on the bible, you should, at least, familiarize yourself with the bible!
(Yes, I know, kind of a bitchy remark form somebody preaching tolerance, but, what can I say, I am a work in progress, and nothing pushes my buttons like narrow-mindness!)

  28. mandee • February 22, 2010 @ 2:54 AM

Jessica on February 22, 2010 1:18 AM dont forget, also if someone sees an overweight person its like the apocalypse has hit too. people are too intolerant of other people and their thoughts.

  29. demigod • February 22, 2010 @ 2:58 AM

That’s the prob with religion – it perpetuates intolerance,intimidation,descrimination,fear.., impedes progress, impairs rationality.
Elton John, or any one else, raising the possibility shouldn’t be deemed controversial or ‘negative’ in any openminded society. He’s not hurting or offending anyone as for as I’m concerened. Is there proof that he was ‘straight’? We’re made to believe he died a 33yr old virgin who never had an erection.

  30. tess • February 22, 2010 @ 11:14 AM

Elton John is a dirty, mind bended perverted old dirt bag….

He is an abomination! This is biblical, and to all those who would defend him, you are an abomination also. Homosexuals are as twisted and warped as pedophiles, its only that pedophiles are with kids why society is a more accepting of homos, yuk!

  31. Jessica • February 22, 2010 @ 2:10 PM

    mandee on February 22, 2010 2:54 AM

OH! So THAT’S why people look at me like that!! lol

No, I do agree with you %100 on that. It’s a little sickening, what’s accepted and what’s not nowadays.

But I dont know…I feel that religion has become a crutch or excuse now. I’m all for believing in something (whether it be God or whatever) and using that faith to help you through a really bad time.
What I don’t agree with is using Religion and Faith as a means of hurting someone and picking them apart based solely on sexual preference, life choices, etc.

  32. mandee • February 22, 2010 @ 2:48 PM

tess on February 22, 2010 11:14 AM YOU are an abomination in the eyes of god. isnt it “love thy neighbour”? well, you clearly arent loving ANYBODY but yourself. i cant wait to see what god says/does to YOU when you die lol. “he who is without sin may cast the first stone” you shouldnt be casting stones tess, youre clearly worse off than the rest of the people that comment on here.

jane, sorry your comment wasnt up when i posted my earlier one. lol you made me laugh.

Jessica on February 22, 2010 2:10 PM i agree completely. i already said it once somewhere on this article, the tolerant ones are the ones that believe in god but do not choose any specific religion. i cant find a religion that fits with me because i will not be in a religion that chooses what a person can or can not eat, drink, do, be in love with etc. i cant be in a religion that discriminates against someone based on their sexual preference or race or weight etc. as you can clearly see, the ones on here bashing everyone are the ones that claim to be the most religious. its pretty obvious the bible was written by A PERSON not by god or jesus. so why is everyone using the bible as a way of life? why are they using the disgusting views of millions of years ago? considering how many times the bible has been rewritten, how come it hasnt been changed yet to suit todays people? wheres the bible that says its OK to be gay, white, black, asian, green, from a different planet, uneducated, intelligent, fat, skinny, long hair, short hair etc? as far as im concerned the bible is pretty discriminatory and i would NEVER use a book that is against any one person for something that causes no harm to anyone, and im surprised that so many “intelligent” people will.

  33. sayitloud • February 22, 2010 @ 3:40 PM

Tess get your head out of your @$$ and look around, the world has changed! Pedophiles and Homosexuals are completely different things. There is nothing wrong with being homosexual, if you feel there is. Then it is time to seclude yourself somewhere in the forest or up in some mountain, where change can no longer effect you. the only thing I can say to people like you is Yuk.

  34. silver • February 22, 2010 @ 3:47 PM

Mandee, you do entertain me, and even better make me think.

You say that tess is an “abomination” and you “cant wait to see what god says/does to YOU when you die”. That doesn’t sound very tolerant or forgiving or loving, yet you say that it upsets you when others aren’t that way. You quoted some popular biblical phrases. Here is another: Turn the other cheek. Just because someone says something mean or cruel does not give another person the right to return the same to them, (speaking from a biblical/Christian perspective).

As for your attempts to find a religion you agree with, I think you miss the point of a religion. The idea is that you believe and have faith in what it teaches. It is supposed to represent God. For a person to question, disagree, or find one that suits them goes against the idea of belief in God’s word, and is putting their own beliefs above God.

I only have knowledge of Catholicism, but it is based on the bible being God’s word, written through humans — not man’s interpretation of what he thinks God meant. I know the bible has been translated into English, which causes problems with meanings, but I’m not sure when it was “rewritten” or by whom. However, your idea that the Bible should be rewritten to today’s standards is against the idea of Catholicism. It is God’s word, not man’s. Man cannot alter it.

Again, all I can speak to is Catholicism, though I know some religious zealots use the bible as teaching beating children, killing homosexuals, etc. However, Catholics do not believe that. Catholics believe God loves everyone, and forgives sin. It is true it is generally believed that the homosexual act is considered a sin, but being homosexual itself is not. However, the Catholic religion does not “hate” anyone, for any reason. Any Catholic who does is not following the religious teachings.

Religion is a difficult thing because it requires a balance between man’s need to question and the religion’s requirement to believe. A member of religion (at least most, as I am aware) can not pick and choose what to follow and believe in because it suits them. Religion is beyond the decisions of man.

As for the article, although Elton John has a right to an opinion, it must be an informed opinion to be respected. He can not just say that Jesus was gay (which isn’t an opinion, he is stating it as fact) without any backup. As far as I know he is not a theologian or biblical scholar, and therefore has no right to state such things as fact.

  35. mandee • February 22, 2010 @ 4:33 PM

silver on February 22, 2010 3:47 PM actually, i dont really care what she says or does. i just find her amusing that she thinks shes better than everyone and her thoughts on homosexuals are right. they are just human, like she is. i wasnt being that mean in my comment, and im not even sure i quoted those phrases right because ive never read the bible lol.

your second paragraph, i kind of understand what youre saying, but with all the different religions out there how is one to know which religion is the RIGHT religion? how can i be a part of a religion that teaches me to be intolerant of someone based on who they love? it doesnt make sense to me that god would want someone teaching something (in his name) that teaches intolerance of anyone. god loves ALL of his children, so why shouldnt we? how can anyone PROVE that the bible is gods word and simply not just someone wanting to see how far what they wrote can go? there have been plenty of practical jokes, hoaxes etc, where is the physical proof that it was gods will to write the bible? we can not prove that he had any say in what was written. because god made all of us and he basically decides what we say/do etc then shouldnt that mean everything anyone writes should be considered gods words?

thanks for shedding some light on your religion. im still trying to find one. my parents are baptist but my family has never been religious. i want to believe that when i find a religion it will make me a happier person, but i dont see it changing anything really. you dont have to be in a religion to believe in or be loved by god. about elton john, i said earlier my sister read that he meant gay as in happy because he was forgiving everyone etc, if thats true then he has the right to call him gay. (i still believe he has the right to think what he wants about someone who may or may not have existed millions of years ago lol). i was trying to find where she saw that he meant happy, but i couldnt. if i come across the page i will put it here for you to read.

  36. Andrew S • February 22, 2010 @ 4:39 PM

    @ silver
this does not sound like a fact too me below is a quote.

I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems,

who says he was not and if he was or wasn’t what problem does this cause as you state it is the act not being gay that was a sin. Which I personally do not know where this was ever said in the bible.

but my point being he did not present it as fact he presented it as what he thinks. If he was too present it as fact he would of left out the “I think” part of the comment.

  37. Angela • February 22, 2010 @ 4:41 PM

mandee, how can you criticize a book you’ve never read? It just makes you look ignorant. Why should we listen to anything you say if you don’t even know what you’re talking about?

  38. tributegirl • February 22, 2010 @ 4:50 PM

silver, I usually don’t agree with your comments, but I do agree with your last paragraph.

    jane on February 22, 2010 2:01 AM
You’d better check out dictionary.com yourself, it’s “holy water”, not “holly water”.

  39. mandee • February 22, 2010 @ 6:21 PM

Angela on February 22, 2010 4:41 PM you sound “ignorant” talking about my comments because you dont understand what i mean. anyone can insult someone because of their opinion, and what i just said to you was merely me proving a point. do **I** think youre ignorant because you dont like my comments? no i do not, how can you assume how i “look” to others based on my opinion? thats like saying because one man thinks jesus is straight he must be “ignorant” because he can not provide PROOF. he wasnt there to SEE this with his own two eyes. if i cant comment on the bible because ive never read it, NONE of you can comment on jesus or god, if they were gay, straight, white, black, asian, skinny, fat, ugly, good looking etc, because none of you have MET them. the bible shouldnt have been written in the first place (based on your opinion) because god didnt PERSONALLY write it. do you also find the people that WROTE the bible to “look ignorant” because they can not provide proof that god told them what to write? how can you “criticize” me when youve never met me? you only know what i write in an online gossip column. next time you want to disagree with me, dont go out of your way to insult me. silver was right, you need to “turn the other cheek” if you dont like what i say. am i mad at you for your comment? no, i just think for someone thats trying to prove the bibles holiness you probably shouldnt include insults in your comments. “It just makes you look ignorant”.

    Ouch..you guys cut deep…lol
As for the dictionary comment…grow up. If that is the best you have to work with, then work on something better.
Jesus was a healer, he worked with the ill. So although I BELIEVE He would not condone homosexuality, He would be with those who were in an attempt to heal.
And if you believe differently, fine. Go ahead, but this is what I believe. IF you are ok with Elton saying what he said, then you should be more than fine with my commentary.

    **********************************************************
Everyone, who believes in God, Believes that God would believe in what they believe in.

Suicide bombers think God has 72 virgins waiting for them in Heaven if they kill them selves.

Hitler believed God was on his side and wore a big swastika on his arm.

    Black people think he’s black.

    White people think he’s white.

    Women think he’s a woman.

And in the end God is perceived by who ever is acknowledging him/her.

I don’t believe in ANY religion. But in the end of the day, opinions are like a** h*les, EVERYBODY’S got one. So, everyone should just achknowledge his opinion and move on with their lives, regardless of what you think of him for saying God’s gay.

    Who cares?

To tributegirl: you are right about ‘holy’ vs ‘holly’, tks for the correction. I also wrote ‘tryed’ instead of ‘tried’: I should take some time and re-read what I write before pressing ‘submit’! lol
And Jo-Anne, you are also right, it is Kurt! THAT was rather embarrassing since he is one of my favorite authors and I should be able to remember his name! The problem is that most of the times my brain goes faster than my fingers, and some things get jumbled!

  50. jane • February 24, 2010 @ 2:52 PM

    To Carol:
“The books of the Old Testament were written from approximately 1400 B.C. to 400 B.C. The books of the New Testament were written from approximately A.D. 40 to A.D. 90. So, anywhere between 3400 to 1900 years have passed since a book of the Bible was written. In this time, the original manuscripts have been lost. They very likely no longer exist. Also during this time, the books of the Bible have been copied again and again. Copies of copies of copies have been made. When God originally inspired men to write His Word, it was God-breathed and inerrant (2 Timothy 3:16-17; John 17:17). The Bible nowhere applies this to copies of the original manuscripts. Of all of the thousands of Greek and Hebrew manuscripts that are in existence, no two were identical until the printing press was invented in the A.D. 1500s.”
Note the quotation marks: this is not my oppinion, but the result of careful studies. I could go on about the recorded (by the church itself) examples of the bible being edited during the years, but I’m not sure if this is the venue for that. My point is only that intolerance and spiritual growth are incompatible, and your (or anybody’s) belief that they have the ultimate knowlege of God’s mind is awfully vain, to say the least! We are all subjective, no matter how much we strive to be otherwise, and the bible was written by man, interpreting the words of God.

  51. mandee • February 24, 2010 @ 5:59 PM

jane, or the bible was written by main CLAIMING to interpret the words of god. there is no proof that the bible was gods will. i could write a newer version of the bible and simply write in it that god told me to write it and that it was his word, does that mean everyone should believe my book?

  52. demigod • February 24, 2010 @ 11:27 PM

Man is CLAIMING God spoke to them!

  53. mandee • February 25, 2010 @ 12:32 AM

yep, where is the proof? the bible that MAN wrote?

  54. Silver • February 25, 2010 @ 9:54 AM

Mandee, there is no proof. That is the basis of religion. It is not something that is subject to scientific testing, it is based on BELIEF.

You have said you believe God exists. Where is your proof for that? I am not intending to be argumentative, just pointing out you seem to be inconsistent in your need for “proof”. As I said before, Catholics believe in God, that Jesus Christ was His son and died for our sins, and that the Bible is the word of God (in spite of man’s hand in its making and evolution). That doesn’t make it true and provable, it is a belief.

By the way, not that it should matter, but I am not a religious person. I tend to be quite pragmatic in my thinking, and struggle with the idea of believing in something that is unprovable and not even understandable (i.e the existence of a being that is not human with ability to create life and earth) versus a relatively common desire to believe that there is something beyond what we know that brings meaning to everything.

And something else to think about — people often say they believe in God, but don’t follow any particular religion because God wouldn’t approve of it’s intolerance of certain groups. If God exists, why is it assumed he is a benevolent being who loves all and doesn’t believe in discrimination? Because there is “proof” or because it is what we WANT to believe?

well, what im getting at is, if i were to write my own book and write that god told me what to write, should any of you doubt me then? simply because i SAID that he told me to write it? if not, then why put so much belief into the bible? youre right, i chose to believe in god because i want to think theres something after i die. some reason that we had to endure everything we did here on earth. i want to believe that god doesnt discriminate, but how do we know? god could be asian and hate anyone that isnt. we dont know because we have never met him. now, going back to what elton said, why should we believe that jesus WASNT gay? theres no proof he was or wasnt gay and that he was or wasnt a man or a woman etc. so really, why should we judge elton based on what he believes when he isnt judging any of us based on what we believe?

I have no problem with a fellow human being, a member of an oppressed minority group seeing jesus from their own perspective. why would anyone have a problem with a black person seeing jesus as black? take this spiritual challenge: replace gay with black on each of these comments and see the full glory of bigotry against another oppressed minority. would these comments even be here? live and let live people.

what wonderful life skills develop from this ongoing bigotry against oppressed people. such a catalyst. people be proud. it’s ok if they don’t get it. excel, thrive and create the best lives.

God told me to write the following:

I am not gay. I am a woman. Bow down to woman. Bow down.

    Hahahahahaha.

Mandee, if you said God told you to write a book, I think nearly everyone would believe you were crazy. But remember, the Bible isn’t A book, it is a collection of several books written over a long period of time by many different people. I’m not saying it is true or not true, or I believe or don’t believe. I’m just saying there is no proof and there may never be proof (at least in our lifetime).

As for Elton John’s comment, I don’t think anyone really said Jesus wasn’t gay (though there are probably many many people who believe he wasn’t for a variety of reasons). However, Elton John supposedly said “he was a gay man”. Not “I believe he was gay” or “what if Jesus was gay . . ” He stated it as if it was fact, and there is no indication to say he was gay. My problem with him saying it is more that he said it not as a scholar of the bible, or a theologian, with some reasonable explanation for his conclusion, but more to be controversial. Why did he need to classify him as gay in the first place? It sounds like he might be implying gay people are compassionate and super intelligent etc.

Guy, I think the reason that some people have a “problem” with saying Jesus was black, or some other group saying he was a member of their group, is that it is agreed by many that Jesus did exist, even if you don’t believe he was the son of God. Since he existed 2,000 years ago in the geographical location he was in, it is less likely he was black or Asian, or Inuit or many others. By each group “claiming” him as a member of their group, it is like saying he didn’t really exist, but that he is a “representation” of something. He couldn’t have been black AND white, he was one or the other, and he was more likely white. It isn’t a question of racism, it is a case of changing fact to suit someone’s own preference.

Nancy, there are drugs to help those voices in your head go away!

silver, i still actually really believe that the way elton worded it he simply meant jesus was happy. i cant be sure though, someone should ask him lol.

Silver, Elton John said he THINKS Jesus was gay.

Silver: No, no drugs. God told me to write it…prove that She didn’t. Does everyone else take drugs when they believe that their God is with them, guiding them, speaking to them?
