By Alexandra Heilbron on June 30, 2009 | 30 Comments

Farrah picking Redmond up from rehab in 2001. Farrah Fawcett‘s son Redmond O’Neal, 24, will be allowed out of jail for three hours today to attend his mother’s memorial service. He’s currently being held at the Pitchess Detention Center in California on drug charges, but is enrolled in an inmate treatment program. Redmond’s father is Ryan O’Neal. The funeral is by invitation only, and will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels at 4 p.m. PST in Los Angeles. Fawcett was 62 when she died last Thursday following a long battle with cancer. According to her will, she left a substantial portion of her estate to U.S. shelters for abused women.

Why would tribute pick this pic? They must know by now it will create a lot of controversy here.
Anyway, good thing he can attend her funeral, I think she would want that. And I hope it shocks him enough to smarten him up.

Why would this picture create controversy tributegirl?

  3. Nancy • June 30, 2009 @ 1:36 PM

LOL! There is ALWAYS controversy on here! I agree, Tributegirl, in the hopes that this kid straightens up. I think it was very kind of Farrah to leave alot of her estate to abused women’s shelters. I know that was a very close to home thing for her. I also don’t believe that her one and only child, Redmond, would make very good use of the money at this point in time had she left it all to him. I’m sure she placed alot of it in trust for him as well…hopefully on the condition of clean blood or urine tests.

and well he should be allowed to attend his mother’s funeral…

  5. mandee • June 30, 2009 @ 5:01 PM

i agree that he should be allowed to attend the funeral. did you say anything else joanne? because it seems like an add on, and i dont see any other comments? im glad she left money for abused women.

That’s a very sweet picture. I’m sure Redmond loved his mom very much, she was the one who wanted him in rehab when he started to show signs of drug abuse, so hopefully this will sober him up and he’ll finally get on the right track, despite his father.

pete, as soon as I saw it, I was reminded of the pic of Miley cuddling on her fathers lap, and the controversy that came out of that.

  8. Nancy • July 1, 2009 @ 1:19 PM

I remember that too, Tributegirl. Good parents labelled as bad parents by people who have no clue…literally no clue.

  9. tributegirl • July 1, 2009 @ 2:24 PM

    Bingo.

  10. Jo-Anne • July 1, 2009 @ 7:47 PM

curious you’d both mention this as you were among the two who found it controversial… you both had a problem with that photo and questionned Billy’s “father” image…

    w o w

  11. tributegirl • July 2, 2009 @ 9:49 AM

Curious, what does it have to do with you? Also curious, you criticize others for archiving, but you just proved you do it yourself.

    w o w

  12. Jo-Anne • July 2, 2009 @ 10:37 AM

it was worth it to type in “miley” and come up with what I was SURE I’d come up with…

so, tell me, why did you post above remarks when you had an issue with the “fatherly pose”???

  13. tributegirl • July 2, 2009 @ 11:10 AM

Again I ask, what does it have to do with you?
So, archiving is ok when you do it, or your little puppet, but it is not ok when someone else does it?

  14. Jo-Anne • July 2, 2009 @ 11:12 AM

    avoiding the question…so Typical T.G….

  15. tributegirl • July 2, 2009 @ 11:14 AM

Yes, I see you are avoiding the question, and you’re right, it is so typical of you.

  16. Jo-Anne • July 2, 2009 @ 11:18 AM

Wow, you REALLY have no answer, do you – busted!!!

  17. Jo-Anne • July 2, 2009 @ 11:27 AM

“Good parents labelled as bad parents by people who have no clueliterally no clue.”

you JUMP on Nancy’s comment with your “Bingo” response, yet YOU WERE THE ONES criticizing Billy’s parenting skills…?????

Why tag on with “Bingo” when YOU WERE THE ONES labelling in that earlier article and now you are suddenly on the other side telling others they have no clue? W O W

my little puppet? perhaps someone you tried to dangle has moved on without you??
    you should try it…moving on…

  18. mandee • July 2, 2009 @ 3:04 PM

only sick twisted people would have thought this was a bad pic. i also agree that the miley pic wasnt as bad as everyone thought it was. thanks tributegirl, i like you too. but at least i have better things to think and talk about when im not defending myself against your childish remarks. grow up LINDA. at least i KNOW i wont be acting the way you are when IM 40.

    Jo-Anne on July 2, 2009 11:18 AM

Are you referring to your question as to why I posted the above remarks? Easy, because I wanted to, it was my opinion.

Or are you referring to the fact that I didn’t answer you right away? Again, easy, because I don’t sit on the computer 24/7 like you do, I took my daughter to work, my youngest child to swimming lessons, came home & did some housework, took my boys out to visit with my parents…at THEIR house…drove there in the car I bought MYSELF…from money I earned at my JOB…that I got because of my EDUCATION.

    Any more questions?

  20. tributegirl • July 2, 2009 @ 4:22 PM

    Her name is Miranda.

  21. Nancy • July 2, 2009 @ 4:32 PM

And my name is Nancy…..or is it? 😀

Wow, she thinks she really has one on you there, Tributegirl…”LINDA”….JOHN….KIM…whatever your name may be. I don’t really know you, but I take you to be much smarter than someone who would give out your real name, hahaha.

  22. Jo-Anne • July 2, 2009 @ 5:40 PM

boy oh boy, you really take the cake, Linda…

OF COURSE I wasn’t referring to the fact you didn’t answer me right away (as if you didn’t know that)…

Way to try and steer the real issue off course…you and buddy just made a complete mockery out of youselves posting two contradicting opinions, the one on this post versus the one on the earlier Billy Ray/Miley story…

    again….as if you DIDN’T know that too…

thanks for the mundane Day in The Life of t.g….

  23. Carol • July 2, 2009 @ 9:52 PM

Man, I’ve been missing out. So looks like Joanne started another one…lol Guess that must be her one and only talent….compensating…perhaps things aren’t so good at home and she has to take it out on people here.
Regardless…Farah deserved to have her son attend the funeral, he didn’t deserve it. Hopefully this will clean him up. And most likely there is money in trust for him, not wise to hand over money too easily to a druggie.
I think it is sad that Farrah’s passing has been overshadowed by Michael Jackson. She was a terrific actress.

  24. tributegirl • July 3, 2009 @ 9:36 AM

Actually, Joanne, you just made a mockery of yourself. If you would go back and re-read my comments, I didn’t GIVE an opinion on this picture.

  25. tributegirl • July 3, 2009 @ 9:41 AM

Carol, I am in total agreement with every point you just made.

  26. Pictures • July 3, 2009 @ 10:25 AM

TG, you insinuated that there was something wrong with the picture when you criticized Tribute for choosing it. And you keep avoiding what Joanne’s saying – she says that apparently you and Nancy thought the Miley/Billy Ray photo was in poor taste and that made him a bad parent but you’ve changed your mind. Is that correct? Why not say it, instead of being rude? People can change their minds and/or admit they were wrong. Is it just because it’s Joanne?

  27. tributegirl • July 3, 2009 @ 10:36 AM

Actually, I didn’t criticize tribute for choosing it, I asked them why they choose it, knowing the controversy that would surely follow. And controversy would definitely have followed if I hadn’t made that initial comment.
And I’m not avoiding what Joanne was saying, it’s just that all she says is meaningless fluff, not to mention that she is trying to create controversy with me. And to answer your question, very little of what she says is correct.
I did find the Miley/Billy Ray photo to be in poor taste, as did almost everyone who commented on it. I never said that made Billy Ray a bad parent. I find this picture of Farrah & Redmond to be kind of cute, but was expecting people on here to go crazy, because that’s what they usually do.
So no, I haven’t changed my mind with anything, and as far as being rude, if someone’s going to be rude to me, they really should be smart enough to know that I’ll give it back.

  28. Jo-Anne • July 3, 2009 @ 1:13 PM

thanks Pictures…I thought my question was and is still abundantly clear, but apparently avoidance coupled with insults is her sole shield…

  29. Stephie • July 4, 2009 @ 12:28 PM

She did answer you, she said

Why do you have such a problem with these people? Why dont you just get over it and move on?

  30. hmmmm? • July 8, 2009 @ 8:50 PM

not saying it was a bad thing for him to be released. what are the circumstances that will allow a felony convict out for his mom’s funeral? there are lots of convicts, misdemeanor no less, that do not get out to attend a funeral. is it fame, money, or other? that get the special privileges?
