Glitch reveals most downloaded American Idol

adam_kris_dannyLast week, a glitch on iTunes revealed to fans which American Idol contestants have been getting the most downloads. After each episode of AI, the contestants’ songs are placed for sale on iTunes, but the sales figures for each finalist is kept secret because Idol execs don’t want people influenced by knowing which contestants are the most popular, so it doesn’t affect voting on the show. The most downloaded contestant is — no surprise here — Adam Lambert. His version of “Mad World” is iTunes’ No. 1 selling song so far this year. Lambert holds six of the top 10 spots in the Idol chart. Kris Allen is next, with three performance downloads on the chart at No. 3 (Falling Slowly), No. 8 (Ain’t No Sunshine) and No. 10 (To Make You Feel My Love). Danny Gokey is the only other AI contestant in the top 10, with his version of “Endless Love” at No. 9. ~movie_alex
