Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe lost virginity at 16

By Tribute on September 5, 2008 | 40 Comments

Danielle RadcliffeIn a move that is surely an effort to shed his good boy/Harry Potter image, Daniel Radcliffe recently admitted to Details magazine that he lost his virginity at age 16—to an older woman.

Daniel didn’t name the woman who “deflowered” him, however sources say the temptress is Amy Byrne, an assistant hairdresser who was 23 when they met on the set of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

The age difference “wasn’t ridiculous,” Daniel, now 19, said of the affair. “But it would freak some people out.”

Despite his sexy shenanigans and nude appearances on stage in Equus, Radcliffe insists his life isn’t too racy. “I don’t pretend to do anything particularly wild,” he says. “I just like wrong-footing people. I write poetry and I love it. I like being different from most other people in my generation.” Sounds like Daniel is well on his way to making the transition from child star to adult Hollywood heartthrob.

    really? who cares.

  2. E.H.Smith • September 5, 2008 @ 10:33 AM

I don’t really care when or to whom he lost his viginity but if he was 16 and she was 23, was he not under the legal age and thus she guilty of statutory rape ? or is the age different for guys then for gals ?

Seems like a pathetic attempt at covering he is gay or something…I mean who tells a reporter about this kind of thing? “oh, i had sex at 16 …with a girl…who was older than me”. Seems like what every teen claims at some point, although not this publicly.

  4. Wh33t • September 5, 2008 @ 11:15 AM

It’s strange how millions of people lose their virginity every year, yet we care when someone on TV is just like us! OMG!

  5. John Does • September 5, 2008 @ 2:44 PM

Katiie nailed it. People need to stop caring about what celebrities do and start working on making this world a better place. peace!

    Right on Katie

this website in entirety is dedicated to news (?) and comments re films, celebrities, etc.

Agree, a lot of it is trivial but why visit it if you truly “don’t care what celebrities do?” Read the Globe & Mail (of course we trust you’ll be bypassing the entertainment
    section)

    Lucky girl……..NOT!! LMFAO! 😀

  9. David • September 5, 2008 @ 3:49 PM

EEEE – this is like rubber necking at a traffic accident… curiousity… leads
to just one more visual one just does not need…

Although the humour potential here is almost unlimited…

Jo-Anne, I was expecting a reply such as yours. I came here to educate the people. This is me doing MY part.

  11. Jo-Anne. • September 5, 2008 @ 4:03 PM

you’ve got to be kidding, John Does – educate the people???? A little high handed, at best.

I guess we’re all doing our part on here, that’s what it’s all about.

  12. Danny • September 5, 2008 @ 5:39 PM

That is no ones business as to who and what they did. When was a crime to show your emotional and physical effection. But their should of been caution used. I bet you harry saw magic that night.

  13. Ashley • September 5, 2008 @ 6:53 PM

Atta girl Jo-Anne. I am always amazed at the people who open these stories and feel the need to write about how evil those of us who read it are. Hmm…an example of hypocracy? John Does. Thanks for doing us all a favour and “educating” us, but on a side note, no one really cares. People care about your opinion on these entertainment stories about as much as you care about HP losing his v-card (or how much you claim to care, because you opened it to read regardless, so you wanted to know..you cared a little). Funny that you haven’t answered Jo-Anne yet. What do you do for a living you said?

P.S. I love reading this trash. I don’t csre who knows it. They tell the magazine that they lose their virginity, I’m gonna read about it. I am not hurting anyone. Thanks for the lesson though, Teacher.

  14. Lexis • September 5, 2008 @ 9:41 PM

MY GOD. And people wonder why we are so obessed with movie stars. Why they have no private lives. I love Daniel and the Harry Potter movies, but we really didn’t need to know this. He should have kept this private. It was his business and no one elses.

  15. Pandora • September 5, 2008 @ 11:12 PM

You know, when a person becomes a celebrity, it seems they will do anything to keep the public’s attention. Harry Potter – children enjoy and look up to as a role model. Daniel Radcliffe – he is just another actor. People please separate the 2 identities! What Daniel Radcliffe does is his business – he could though have learned something from Harry Potter – about and knowing when to keep his mouth shut. And the poeple I pity the most – are those who thrive on useless gossip such as this. As the saying goes “great minds discuss ideas, middle minds discuss ideas, small minds thrive on gossip and other people’s personal affairs!

  16. Just 3 words... • September 6, 2008 @ 12:10 AM

    TOO MUCH INFO!

  17. John Does • September 6, 2008 @ 12:18 AM

Ashley you ignorant slut. For someone who claims to love reading(this or any other trash), you seem to have problems with your reading comprehension skills.

Let me make this clear for you : I never said anything about people being evil for reading celebrity gossip. What I said is that people should make better use of their time by not caring anymore about what celebrities do and concentrate on the real issues that are negatively affecting our world.

Also, what I do for a living is irrelevant to this debate. I called out Jo-Anne on being one of the people who perpetuate this mind numbing tradition.

In closing, Ashley, I do not expect you to change from reading this. Thus, you can go back to your Entertainment-Hollywood-Tonight-Access-TV dinner life. Keep caring about Tom Cruise and Paris Hilton. On your death bed, you can think about how awesome these people were and how you were not.

  18. Nancy • September 6, 2008 @ 12:23 AM

Ahhh, it’s nice to just kick back and laugh while someone else tells it like it is for a change!!! 😀 LMAO.

  19. Sam • September 6, 2008 @ 12:28 AM

Funny how if this was Emma Watson this story would be much more different, Nothingwillever happen to the women, Daniel will get “way to go” by all his friends, Yet if this was Emma Watson at 16, well the guy will be going to jail. Hell warner bros would be forced to re-cast harmony, it wouldbethis be whirl wind.. Crazy how storieswould be spinned between men and women.

  20. soundsgood • September 6, 2008 @ 12:29 AM

jo-anne, ashley and john does, STOP!!!!…and get a life.

  21. John Does • September 6, 2008 @ 1:00 AM

Yo soundsgood, that’s what I’ve been saying. (I’ll probably stop replying, this captcha crap is annoying).

  22. Jo-Anne • September 6, 2008 @ 7:52 AM

Love your comments, Ashley, very well put

it’s always a kick to see people such as J.D. resort to childish name calling and insults when all else fails…

and even funnier to see people attempting (albeit, failing miserably) to shame those who participate in this commentary when they themselves are anxiously pouring over exact same commentaries
    ….that’s LMAO for sure

  23. John Does • September 6, 2008 @ 9:42 AM

The “ignorant slut” comment was an SNL reference. Get with it.

  24. sk8tergirl • September 6, 2008 @ 1:15 PM

Why do we need to know?

  25. Anonymous • September 6, 2008 @ 6:20 PM

we dont NEED to know – he was the one who put it out there

  26. tributegirl • September 7, 2008 @ 8:59 PM

    OMG, TOOOOOO funny!
Anyway, anyone really think Daniel will become a “heartthrob”? I love his acting, but…can’t really see him as a heartthrob.
Oh, and John Does – WELCOME ABORD THE CRAZY TRAIN!

  27. John Does • September 8, 2008 @ 5:34 PM

What’s with all the fighting and childish b.s.? I came here to post my opinion on celebrity gossip and how people should find better things to do than to become mindless zombies. Then, JoJo got all butt hurt because she realized that it’s all she’s good for and then Ashley got all confused because I typed too many words for her to handle. This is lame, I’ve wasted too much time already.

  28. Jo-Anne. • September 8, 2008 @ 6:13 PM

so you keep teasing us, J.D., you’re ready to jump ship, how much time you’re wasting here…get on with it then or just admit you’re loving it

    I’ll eagerly await your response
for the record, don’t flatter yourself on your words hurting me – knock yourself out
maybe you’ll come up with something worthwhile besides trying to pick a fight
    I won’t hold my breath though….

  29. Jo-Anne. • September 8, 2008 @ 6:15 PM

    s/b “breath”…
sorry, robbed you of some ace material there

  30. John Does • September 8, 2008 @ 6:43 PM

haha. that was pretty funny. As for me trying to pick a fight, I never wrote my initial comment with the intent of having someone reply. You’re the one who got offended for some reason(I must have struck a nerve). Also, judging from the people who have spoken against you, picking fights is your forte.

  31. Jo-Anne. • September 8, 2008 @ 6:47 PM

you are right on one thing, J.D. – you originally stated people needed to stop caring about what celebrities do – your hypocrisy bugs me –
hey, you avoid the question still –
Why the heck are you on here if not to pick a fight as you state you certainly don’t care what celelbrities do?

oh, I get it – you’re a screamingly obvious Closet Celebrity Watcher
enjoy…along with your well thumbed National Enquirer stack

  32. John Does • September 8, 2008 @ 7:52 PM

Actually, I read Weekly World News exclusively. But in all seriousness(why so serious?), I stumbled on the page, read the article, thought it was dumb, decided to tell people to care about real issues, you responded, hilarity ensued.

  33. tributegirl • September 8, 2008 @ 9:14 PM

Hey John Does, I’m assuming you already figured this out, but you are talking to a brick wall there. Nothing gets in, nothing worthwhile comes out. I’ve gone back & read your first comment, and there was nothing offensive there at all, just a person posting their opinion. Most of us are ok with that, but the hypocrite isn’t ok with anything. Just the way it is here on the crazy train.

  34. sk8tergirl • September 9, 2008 @ 4:36 PM

We don’t need to know Dan…

  35. Jo-Anne. • September 10, 2008 @ 2:33 PM

you’re a laugh a minute JD, for a guy who claims to dislike Celebrity stuff….man, you live on this site! cool turnaround.
    just sayin’ – sorry, saying.

so, what do you think of this Harry Potter storyline?? Or do you just wanna answer all my posts?? ha ha

  36. John Does • September 10, 2008 @ 2:49 PM

    Yo mama.

  37. freaker • September 27, 2008 @ 4:06 AM

He must receive detention for underage soccery(!)

  38. Ed Engle • January 18, 2009 @ 5:20 PM

Just a note to you all that Emma,Daniel and Rupert are all british citizens, and as such subject to the british laws – also the films are made within the united kingdom in various locations so the chances are that he lost his v-plates in the UK, therefore he would still be subject to british law and the UK law states that the age of consent is 16 not 18 as most of you seem to think and the only exeption to this is people such as teachers for whom it is illegal.
As to carring I don’t really but why critisize people who do, its not really our business I agree but why should we be so rude about calling someone a “slut” makes you as low as you claim they are – its ignorant and a bias that isnt our right to have… why am I here, well I browsed the internet to catch up on a few HP details and this came up… so i read it and then some of your rather horrific comments – come on people no need to be rude or personal, its not our right to dictate what people read or don’t it is after all (relativly) a society of free speach and freedom is after all the rights of our societies.

  39. Harry fan • March 20, 2009 @ 1:26 AM

    Excellaent darling keep it up!!!!!!!!!

  40. Sienna • February 26, 2012 @ 8:26 AM

Look, i’ve never really liked Dan Radcliffe, but the fact about this is abit disturbing. However, I don’t really care about celebritys losing there virginity,if there over 16, or woteva then they can. But I can’t deny that if I was famous I wouldent really reveal this much info. Also, why do ppl care, millions of people lose there virginity every year, but the celebrits are the ones in the limelight, because there celebritys.
