Australian actor Hugh Jackman, 46, has gone under the knife again to have a basal cell carcinoma removed after yet another cancer scare, his rep has confirmed to People. This is the third time The Wolverine star has had the procedure in less than a year. Hugh first underwent treatment for skin cancer last November and then again this past May. Fortunately, Hugh’s rep has confirmed that following his last procedure, the actor is “okay now.” However, Hugh doesn’t believe he’ll ever truly be in the clear, admitting to the Associated Press after one of his previous skin cancer scares that he believes he will likely face the disease again in his future.
“I’m realistic about the future and it’s more than likely that I’ll have at least one more but probably many more, which is not uncommon for an Aussie, particularly from English stock growing up in Australia where I don’t remember ever being told to put sunscreen on,” Hugh revealed. Since becoming aware of his condition, Hugh has been an advocate for sunscreen, urging fans to be smart, safe and to take preventative measures. ~Janine Wyslobicky
