Charlie Sheen going to jail for assault

By Alexandra Heilbron on June 3, 2010 | 33 Comments

Charlie Sheen is reportedly planning to agree to a plea deal that will see him jailed. The Two and a Half Men star will appear in court Monday to face charges of felony menacing, misdemeanor third-degree assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief relating to an altercation with wife Brooke Mueller on Christmas Day. A source told People magazine: “Charlie intends to go to court on June 7 to plead to a misdemeanor and immediately begin serving his 30 days in jail. With good behavior, he could end up doing 15 or so days.” Charlie is expected to serve his prison sentence in Aspen’s Pitkin County Jail. The facility – which has reportedly been asked to relax their no smoking policy for the actor – allows inmates to mingle with members of the opposite sex in shared areas, has a spacious living room decorated with plants and a large television, and is known for its luxury cuisine. A prison official said: “He’d be crazy not to want to do his time here in Aspen.”

15 days for assaulting his wife on Christmas Day in front of his kids? I think 30 days in total would be lenient, it should be a few months. And he gets to smoke in there? Who says celebrities don’t get special treatment. Grrrrrrrrr.

  2. Joshua • June 3, 2010 @ 11:18 AM

Oh no he gets to spend 15 to 30 days on a Govnt paid vacation at a luxury resort, that will teach him to not break the law.

  3. Corinne • June 3, 2010 @ 11:34 AM

What a joke! Why the court is allowing him to plead guilty to a misdemeanor after assaulting his wife, in front of his children no less, is disgusting. I guess he would have had to kill her to get the full 30 day sentence.

I feel sorry for him. If it wasn’t for all of the lies that make up the Domestic Violence industry, he’d be a free man. Unfortunately in our “female chauvinist” society, he was guilty before he was even born. We never got all the facts about what happened and he is forced by society against his will and with no options to plead guilty or suffer even more. One day I sincerely hope the truth will come about and DV laws will be rewritten to reveal the truth, not the feminist lies that they are based on. Stay well Charlie!

  5. Marilyne • June 3, 2010 @ 12:37 PM

He is getting jus what he deserves! He probably should have gotten a bit more time, to discourage other celebrities from committing the same crime. I am thinking of the Rihanna incident in particular. It is not right for any person to assault another, but hitting a female is inexcusable.

  6. Marilyne • June 3, 2010 @ 12:39 PM

He plays a “sleeze ball” on his show and he is just that in real life! He needs some serious psychological counselling.

  7. Griff Xombie • June 3, 2010 @ 12:50 PM

Jesus, Charlie… Stop beating on your wives!!

  8. Richie Beers • June 3, 2010 @ 1:49 PM

I totally agree with Bob Gordon, Charlie is just another victim of our money grubbing legal system!
What did his wife get for filing the complaint?
She will no doubt benefit from this financially.

    Take care Charlie!

  9. Lorna • June 3, 2010 @ 1:51 PM

I understand where Bob is coming from we do not know the entire truth about what happened on Christmas Day, but I do not agree that he should have the rules lifted for him just because he is a celebrity. You do the crime you should have to pay the way that everyone else does, why the special treatment, who got paid off, judge or police officers, etc.

  10. Kathy Crawford • June 3, 2010 @ 1:53 PM

I can see both sides. For one thing, you should save an argument for some other time, not in front of the kids on Christmas Day. However, I have just recently been involved with something was blown way out of proportion. It sucks

We all make choices!!! In a heated moment Charlie chose to assault his wife in front of his children. I feel so sad for his children… the far reaching effects that violence touches, it just perpetuates this same behavior … not always, but the pain and wounds go deep. The fact that he may serve 15 days in an environment that will provide seculsion and comfort is simply ridiculous IMHO, the question is; when do people begin to be held accountable for their actions. I have lost my temper with my child… 18 years later it still causes remorse and pain in me… i have told my child how deeply sorry I am and how wrong MY choice was. I really don’t believe the lenient penal system begins to handle such problems. Charlie enjoy the publicity, and get a good long rest in “prison”.

  12. Wendy • June 3, 2010 @ 3:43 PM

There are 2 sides to every story….and somewhere in the middle is the truth…but yes, the children who witnessed the incedent should be first concern…. Charlie, this is getting to be a pattern….please seek help while doing your time.

  13. paul • June 3, 2010 @ 4:57 PM

I don’t know why someone who has it all, would want to screw it up so badly.Fix the problem never let it happen again.

  14. Cheryl • June 3, 2010 @ 5:16 PM

    Ahhhh…but…he’s just so damned likeable!

  15. eva • June 3, 2010 @ 6:53 PM

Charlie is doing some time, unlike that Lohan child.

This is the guy who spoke out against Arnold getting another term, who actively campaigned for gay rights, fought to legalizing med marijuana and went door to door to get folks to register to vote in the last election.

Hmm, can anyone tell me what JULIA ROBERTS or TOM HANKS or any of those so called a-listers has done for someone else other than their agent??

I’ve been to Aspen. The coffee is better in Telluride.

  16. Mike • June 3, 2010 @ 7:11 PM

I think he should be forced to do long term community service for a women’s shelter. Why should he go to a resort for 15 days? This is just a small slap on his wrist & an insult to women everywhere.

  17. Victoria • June 3, 2010 @ 7:31 PM

The truth is we don’t know all the facts because none of us were there… however, I take offence to the comment made earlier regarding “feminist society” and the way that comment makes light of a very serious situation… domestic violence is no laughing matter, surviving it is a nightmare and although it happens to both men and women, it happens more often against women and men are afraid/ashamed so they do not report it. If he did assault his wife (and by pleading guilty he is admitting guilt) then I must admit that the sentence is a joke and the faciliy described is no prison rather a country club and all this situation proves is that, firstly, celebrities are obviously treated differently, you can’t deny that given these particular circumstances and secondly that domestic violence needs to be taken more seriously. 15 days… sentencing is supposed to be punishment and act as a deterrent for future behavior, does 15 days in a country club sound like punishment? Do you really think that it will have an everlasting impact against him assuring that he will never act this way again?

  18. mandee • June 3, 2010 @ 7:38 PM

criminals shouldnt be given such good treatment. working people have to bust their as*es, most of them in jobs they hate or dead end jobs, to simply afford a small apartment with a small living room with no plants and no tv. whats the world coming to when people who beat their wives get special treatment? (especially their no smoking policy.) maybe i wanna go to aspen and break the law so i can get a big spacious living room and spend my days doing nothing lmfao.

Bob Gordon on June 3, 2010 12:23 PM i will not condemn charlie because i have no idea what happened, both were drunk and i have no doubt a lot of what was said was totally out of proportion because the wife was drunk. he didnt beat her, he simply held a knife to her throat, it could have been some perverted sex thing or something, who knows? also, it has nothing to do with the fact that his wife is a woman, if he had been married to a man and pulled the same crap, hed probably get the same amount of time (if it was reported).

Marilyne on June 3, 2010 12:37 PM rhiannas situation was NOTHING like charlies situation. he didnt beat his wife to a bloody pulp and then simply act as if nothing happened. i dont even think he hit her, i think it was just the knife to the throat thing.

Kathy Crawford on June 3, 2010 1:53 PM sorry to hear, hope everything works out for you.

Suzanne on June 3, 2010 3:27 PM his children are babies, they wont even remember what they saw. and you can say they will (or anyone can say they will) but people dont remember what happens to them or in front of them before usually around the age 5 or later in life.

    Wendy on June 3, 2010 3:43 PM great comment, i agree 😀

Cheryl on June 3, 2010 5:16 PM haha, im not sure if you were being serious, but i agree 😛

eva on June 3, 2010 6:53 PM lmfao@the coffee is better in telluride 😛 .

Mike on June 3, 2010 7:11 PM no abused womens shelter in the world would allow someone that is a past abuser to even know where the shelter is, let alone do community service there. also, i dont think they allow men of any sort in womens shelters because the women and children are already terrified of men, i wonder if theres such a thing as an abused mens shelter? maybe he should work there.

  19. avis • June 3, 2010 @ 9:33 PM

15 days is not enough, just because of who he is that is why he is getting off with what he did and even in front of his kids, and letting him smoke and have plants and just what ever they want you may as well just let them go, all you are doing is letting them go on a vacation with all the trimmings and 3 nice meals a day, if it was you or me we have the book toss at us and we be on a old mattress on the floor, so where is the justice, he is no better than we are.

Hi, I starve and have no real job, worked jobs where I pulled a lot of weight had work accidents and descriptive harassment and abuse nothing compared to his Christmas incident and no one has to look out or look for me, it’s the real world and I see a prince or an escape where I dream because Charlie is fascinating to me and I gave half of my money most of the time to family that can not help me at all, because I live in Canada where it is cold and I hardly sleep in shelter, I do everything I can to take care of what I want to look at to better me, and no I’m not Charlie Sheen I wasn’t anything close to him and even if he would the kind of man that could spit on me any way, in spite of a clear record that I possess in poverty, I still like him for what he did and what he wanted to stand up for in questioning 911 and it’s a sad to see his problems have to surface and explode like this in front of people while many, very more abusive people have jobs nice lives and no one see’s anything , and this is called a balanced culture. Charlie is a man for himself< I dont care how right it could have been wronged out for him or I don't care what he has to hold onto, that is way more then most people could dream, I'm crazy for him and his private life will be his own life and anyone close I think their lucky and blesses because he's so beautiful, wish I really him well!

  21. botox • June 3, 2010 @ 11:32 PM

holy f**king shit this guy has a 5 star jail…he can mingle with other female inmates?! and have a big screen TV?!?!?! WOW…I wonder what he would get for murder…maybe they’d just take his plants away and give him an extra 10 days, right? what a bullshit justice system..I really wanna get to know his lawyer, cause he’s f**king good!

I like Charlie. I think he’s a good actor and is a lot of fun to watch. That being said ends where his specialty lies. Charlie is a human and as such is allowed to make mistakes, albeit having issues with his wife. However I find it amazing that the mere fact he’s an actor, allows the courts and jails to view him as something special. It’s one thing that he gets to do his time in a club med facility funded through the same tax dollars that we use to house the common criminal including sexual deviants and murderous thugs, but having them “bend the rules” so poor Charlie can light up as though he’d different or better then the rest is totally wrong. As the old saying goes…”If you can’t do the time then don’t do the crime”

  24. Joshua • June 4, 2010 @ 4:19 AM

Wow hot topic. Bob, i think you need some help. Seriously.

  25. Bonnie L • June 4, 2010 @ 7:21 AM

Charlie Sheen is an incredioble actor. A genius at his craft. He is great fun to watch and brings laughter into our home. All The Sheens are Greatly talented. But..Charlie has a problem…a Serious problem. Sitting in any type of jail is not going to get rid of that problem. He needs years and years of therapy. He will never be any different then who he is right now unless he seeks the appropriate Help and sticks with it. Otherwise this will continue to happen and a very smart, talented man will lose it all.

  26. L.A. in T.O. • June 4, 2010 @ 10:40 AM

“Jailed”, that’s funny in an oh so sad way. Have you seen that facility? It’s hardly jail. It’s tadamount to a retirement home without the senior citizens.

Who said there was a class system in North America? If it were a John Doe that was found guilty of assault, he’d be in a cell, not having full reign of a facility that’s that’s almost like summer camp.

Shame on the justice system, celebs should go to real jails, just like any other criminal.

  27. kim walker • June 4, 2010 @ 12:00 PM

Well isnt that just typical. Hollywood superstars getting treatment that none of us would get. Not that he is in my league, I would not have hit my spouse and ruined christmas day for my kids….way to stay classy Charlie. I hope he can man up and realize that just making kids does not a father make.

  28. gypsy • June 4, 2010 @ 9:21 PM

When the wife changes her story and will not testify against her hubby, what do you expect the police to do?Also I doubt that 9 month old twins are gonna remember what happened. They probably were in another room, as both parents were drunk and on their bed when the incident happened!Kinky sex, only they know for sure!!!

  29. mandee • June 4, 2010 @ 10:53 PM

LMFAO thats what I said gypsy 😛 he didnt hit her, he held a knife to her throat, whos to say it really WASNT kinky sex and she just took it wrong because she was drunk?

  30. sarah • June 5, 2010 @ 1:01 PM

I think he should go to a regular jail just like normal people. Why should he get any special treatment for doing what would get any othert man jailled. He knew it was wrong. so punish him to the fullest extent of the law

  31. gypsy • June 5, 2010 @ 1:44 PM

    Thats what their doing!!!!

  32. Carolyn • June 6, 2010 @ 12:47 PM

Charlie should be spending time at Anger Managemnt instead of wasting tax dollars sitting in a cell. Why did the other guy who beat Rwanda do jail time and he did more damage then just wave a switch blade….I find the whole thing a little crazy. What is the purpose of sitting around watching t.v and smoking….it serves nothing. Make Charlie do community service.
I have always liked Charlie and once in awhile you do something bad….we are all human….good luck C.

  33. Heather • June 6, 2010 @ 10:54 PM

Hey Charlie, i like your show Two and a Half Men, and from watching that show you do not look like the type of guy to assault a woman. I disagree that you are getting special treatment in prison, just because you are a celebrity, as it is not fair to the rest of the world, that are not celebrity’s. I know you have done your angermanagement course, which is good, and you should give up drinking, as obviously you can not handle your booze. Yes there is two sides of the story, but come on Charlie hitting your wife in front of your children, that is not right, how do you think they are feeling now after seeing their Dad hit their Mom. It is not right for any man to hit a woman. I was in an abusive marriage years ago, and i left the guy, as i was very scared, and he even kicked me with his steel toe boots on, and i could not walk for a couple of days and his 14yr old daughter witnessed it, and she got really pissed at him. Till this day she still talks to me, and doe’s not bother with her Dad much. So please Charlie get some good help with your violence and drinking, and you will have a better life with your family.. If you do the crime you should do the time, as 30 days is nothing these days, if it were someone who was not a celebrity they would have gotten a couple of years. It is not fair. Take care..
