Mark Wahlberg lets 7-year-old daughter date

By Alexandra Heilbron on February 10, 2011 | 8 Comments

Mark Wahlberg revealed this week on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno that he recently let his seven-year-old daughter Ella Rae go on a date to see the movie Tangled. He told Leno that a boy from her class gave him a call to tell him he was dating Ella Rae: “She gave a boy in her class my cell phone number. He calls me, says ‘Hey, Mr. Wahlberg, I’m taking your daughter to the movies.’ I’m like, ‘What?'” Mark goes on to say that he was surprised a seven-year-old was calling for a date and he thought, maybe in at least seven more years. However, he admitted he wound up acting as chaperone for the date, along with the boy’s father. “We take them to the movies, they don’t say a word to each other, they won’t sit next to each other, they won’t make eye contact and me and the dad are sitting there welling up, me more than him, because [Tangled is] a story of a daughter who’s taken away, and the father and the mother are obviously very upset, and those kinds of things make me very emotional.” Mark and his wife Rhea have three other children together: Robert, 4, Joseph, 2, and 1-year-old Grace.

I love Mark W. At first I thought, he what? But that’s actually kind of cute. I love the thought of him crying while watching Tangled. 🙂

I love Mark W. He’s great and I love this story. That’s one he’ll be telling his grand kids.

Yeh, I agree with the others’, it was a sweet thing he did taking his daughter and her date on a date–sounded really funny! About him crying seeing “Tangled”, it sounds as tho’ it was harder on the parents, rather than the kids!lol Also, the passing remark about the “hootch” was really cool, especially the way he passed it off like it wasn’t any BIG deal!! Liked him in some of his earlier flicks, but haven’t seen anything recent of his–he seems as tho’ he’s pretty cool & laid back. Lucky kids!

I read the article thinking it wasn’t like him but then watched the video clip and the way he explains things and everything it’s just adorable. what a great father.

I also love how real he is. Honest about his habits and such. He’s always come across as such a real and great guy.
