Justin Bieber considers early retirement

Beliebers should watch out, because Justin Bieber says he may be done making music. The 19-year-old superstar told Los Angeles radio station Power 106, “After the new album, I’m actually retiring man. I’m retiring.” Bieber, who has stirred some controversy in recent months for vandalism in Australia, as well as poking fun at a fan, calling her a “beached whale,” says he is planning to take a hiatus from the music industry after his new album, Journals, is released. Bieber said, “I want to grow as an artist and I’m taking a step out, I want my music to mature.” Claiming he is no longer attracted to fame, he said he was “here solely for [his] fans and for the music.” In 2012, Bieber addressed false rumors about him, saying, “I got to the point where I thought, ‘I don’t want to do this. I just want to be normal.’ It was difficult because I’d never gone through anything like that.” However, a source close to the star told Gossip Cop that the Biebs was just joking about early retirement, saying, “The kid’s got ambition.” The star also can’t hang up the microphone yet, because he’s still waiting on his first Grammy win, saying on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, “It’s definitely something I look forward to. But I know that it’ll happen one day.” Bieber’s representatives have not yet commented on his retirement. His new movie, Justin Bieber’s Believe, opens Christmas Day. ~ Jennifer Yoo
