Inside the Toronto Chapters bookstore where Justin Bieber’s mother Pattie Mallette was scheduled to do a book signing earlier today, the scene resembled a Justin Bieber concert; dozens of girls decked out in Bieber gear, holding signs; enthusiasm glowing from their smiling faces. But these fans weren’t there to sing along to One Time and As Long As You Love Me, they were excited about meeting Justin’s mom. The 38-year-old author and film producer didn’t just draw in fans because of her blood relation to the biggest pop star in the world, but also because of her inspiring story, revealed in her autobiographies, Nowhere But Up: The Story of Justin Bieber’s Mom and Nowhere But Up: Teen Edition.
In Toronto as part of her North American book tour, petite Pattie greeted each fan with a smile and a hug and took the time to pose for a photo with every single one. Although most were smiling from ear to ear, some shed tears and sobbed as they hugged Pattie. Pattie also received gifts from many fans, including homemade collages of her son, to framed photographs of her and Justin, to letters meant for Justin. He’s appearing in concert in Toronto tonight (July 25) and tomorrow (July 26) at the Air Canada Centre – presumably they were hoping she would pass their notes along to him.
Tribute had the chance to chat with Pattie earlier about her new book and what it’s like to be an inspiration to people worldwide. Click here for our interview with Pattie.
