Kate Hudson sheds weight by cutting out booze

Kate Hudson with son Ryder in New YorkIn an interview with Elle magazine, Kate Hudson revealed she’d lost 20 pounds by giving up alcohol. She said she needed to lose weight for an upcoming role as a terminally ill woman in the romantic comedy Earthbound. Hudson, 30, admitted cutting out booze wasn’t easy for her, saying: “I love my glass of wine. I love tequila. To be in New York for two weeks and not have one beverage, I’m not sure I’ve ever done that.” You’re probably wondering (we definitely are): How much booze did she usually scarf down in order to be able to lose 20 pounds by cutting it out of her daily routine? Kate, we didn’t know you were such a booze hound! Earthbound begins filming in January.

no, actually I wasn’t wondering that….what I was wondering though is how thin did they require her to be for this role, she has always appeared to be extremely thin to me before, not an ounce of fat on her….

i agree, its dangerous to get too skinny and just to play a role in a movie? crazy.

Well I was still wondering that! Its not like its a 300 pound guy with a pot belly who dropped 20 pounds when he stopped drinking beer…we are talking about a woman who probably only weighs 120 pounds…and she lost 20 pounds by just cutting out the booze??? WHAT!?!?

Talk about a friggen alcoholic with some issues! People her size out there couldn’t lose 20 pounds if they were to eat healthy and exercise several times a week! That is just creepy!

Well, I’m sure when Kate said that she was just being over dramatic. I’m sure she probably starved herself for two weeks as well but cutting out alcohol was good because it has alot of calories, alot of sugar and if she loves tequila, she most likely wasn’t very far from a salt shaker! I know I stopped eating salt for 1 week before and lost 10 pounds…from just salt!!!

Nance, you are probably right. There are a lot of people who dont tell the truth about how much they lost, how they lost it, etc. Just looks good on them, makes them look like they have the strength to endure whatever comes there way. She is quite tiny though, any weight off her would probably not be a very good thing. All I think is when Tom Hanks lost weight for Philidelphia. He wasn’t a big man at the time (I don’t think he is now either) but sometimes the role means you gotta be sickly thin, and if she is playing a physically sick woman, then she will definitely look the part by losing any amount of weight.

Carol, more recently re Hanks weight loss..in Castaway. A dramatic transformation. Look at him when he first gets stranded on the island, then when he grows out that beard.
