Katy Perry eats pizza in secret

By Alexandra Heilbron on February 16, 2010 | 39 Comments

katy_perryKaty Perry’s sister gives her a “verbal lashing” if she even thinks about eating pizza. The pop star rarely gets to enjoy it because her sister keeps her on such a strict diet. Although she would kill for a slice of pizza at times, the 25-year-old star is glad she has someone to watch over her weight because she has trouble sticking to a diet. “My sister makes me watch what I eat,” Katy said. “She’s a vegetarian who eats fish and she’s lost so much weight from that diet. She’ll scream at me if some of the crew on my tour get hot pizza for a snack and I want some. Sometimes I can grab a slice, but if my sister sees me, I get a verbal lashing! I eat secretly in the corner – my one pepperoni slice.” She admits she might start exercising more as she ages because she knows her metabolism will slow down. “I don’t feel pressure to stay in shape, as I know I’m kind of voluptuous and I’ve always been that way,” she told British magazine More! “Saying that, I’m young and metabolism is on my side and my schedule is so crazy that I lose weight from the intensity of it. If you ask me the question in five or six years I’ll probably have a different answer for you.”

Theres an interesting post over at the Health Journal Club that makes the case that people should just not eat anything that wasnt a food 100 years ago. Gets rid of the aspartame, bleached GM flour, high fructose corn syrup garbage they try to pass off as food these days. If interested you can read on it here,

Are you kidding me? Her sister will “scream” at her if she wants some pizza the crew got? She has to eat secretly in the corner? I know what I’d be saying to that sister, and it isn’t anything I can say on here!!!

Philip: There must be very few foods left on the list that could still be sold or made from scratch from items sold (such as flour) from 100 years ago. They have added all this crap to almost EVERYTHING! I’ll have to check out the link you provided. I would think it would be very hard to find a lot of things, I mean, fruits and veggies are readily available of course, but, what about other stuff? Health food stores might be able to provide some.

  4. Nancy • February 16, 2010 @ 5:27 PM

Oh, as for the article, I guess she likes her sister keeping her eating habits in check. If it were my sister, I’d tell her to get lost and mind her own plate because I love me some za!!

  5. mitch • February 16, 2010 @ 7:46 PM

    katy pery’s sister…..another annoying vegetarian !!!!!

  6. mandee • February 17, 2010 @ 2:03 AM

mitch, thats quite the narrow minded view you have there. i dont think its that her sister is “annoying” i think its that her sister knows what celebs go through when they gain even an ounce of weight and she doesnt want katy to have to deal with all the negativity that comes with it. every time angelina or jennifer aniston (just to name 2) get a little big of weight on them they are accused of being pregnant. i would go crazy if i had to restrict what i ate because other people might assume im pregnant if im caught eating pizza or caught gaining a half a pound.

  7. mandee • February 17, 2010 @ 2:09 AM

i wouldnt be able to live without pop, ketchup, salad dressing, and fries. i dont consume any of them daily, well, ketchup is the closest to daily i consume any of it.

  8. Carol • February 17, 2010 @ 7:41 AM

Everything in moderation. And so what if she gains weight…look at Kelly Clarkson who is an awesome singer and she is happy with who she is. People should focus more on what is healthy, exercise, eating, the whole package. Sounds like her sister wants to starve her, not help her.

  9. gypsy • February 17, 2010 @ 2:31 PM

Years ago my sis was healthy looking, then Twiggy became the IN look. This is when my sis began the binge and purge thing. After a few years of doing this, she started doing drugs as well to stay thin. She has been off drugs for years, but the end result was 3 heart attacks and she is in a wheelchair for the rest of her life! There were many interventions through the years,to no avail!!Was it worth it to lose the extra 10to20lbs absolutely not!!!!
The fact that Katy has to hide to eat 1 piece of pizza is totally ridiculous! When you deny yourself any type of food, you usually end up eating twice as much.I believe her sister is doing an injustice to Katy,at 25yrs old she is mature, and capable of looking after herself!!!Tell your sister to take a hike, and eat what you crave,Life is to short to deny yourself of whatever makes you happy!!

  10. mandee • February 17, 2010 @ 3:34 PM

wow, sorry to hear about your sister gypsy 🙁 i agree with your comment completely.

  11. Nancy • February 17, 2010 @ 7:23 PM

I’m sorry to hear about your sis too, Gypsy. That’s awful! I agree with Carol about the “moderation” thing. When you crave things, it’s usually for a reason. If your body needs something, such as certain vitamins and minerals, you will crave the foods which contain them, so eat them but in moderation.

  12. Carol • February 17, 2010 @ 8:57 PM

Gypsy, thanks for sharing your story. The thing is our kids see these things, as your sister did, and we really don’t need that. I have a 16 year old who is very tiny. Thankfully she doesn’t diet or anything like that, but I know of kids who do. My cousin, when she was about 16 did the binge/purge thing, and it was bad. To this day we don’t know from one day to the next if she’ll be overweight or super skinny. It seems to change that fast. It scares me,because any sickness of the mind (which is where this all starts) are some of the hardest to fight and control.
I think Dove has done an amazing thing with their self-esteem commercials as well as I think Nike has done some a few years back. I applaude any company or person who is in public view trying to show our loved ones what is healthy and beautiful. And of course those who aren’t if the public view should be applauded for their efforts as well, just unfortunately our family/friends tend to listen to the media more than us, that is what sets the standards.

  13. tributegirl • February 17, 2010 @ 9:12 PM

gypsy, that’s awful about your sister, I’m really sorry to hear that.
Carol, that’s true, unfortunately the modelling industry is still using the stick thin models, male and female.

  14. gypsy • February 18, 2010 @ 12:55 AM

Thank’s girls,I just wish we could get over the exterier image, and see the beauty inside all people! That is where the True Beauty comes from!

  15. mandee • February 18, 2010 @ 10:20 AM

its kind of interesting that on this site (the one where an average person wants to eat pizza) everyone is sticking up for her right to eat what she wants and be happy with her body etc, but on the site thats talking about fat people needing 2 seats on an airplane theres people stating theres no reason people are fat and they should basically all be one size. (i dont mean you 3!) i just think people need to base their weight and what they eat and do not eat on what THEY want not what society wants.

  16. demigod • February 18, 2010 @ 7:04 PM

Would her annoying, doting vegetarian sis object to her having a slice of vegetarian, perhaps with anchovies, or does she fear the dough would go straight to her breasts as well?

  17. Nancy • February 18, 2010 @ 8:31 PM

Demigod: Now THAT is funny, hahaha.

  18. Carol • February 18, 2010 @ 9:12 PM

Mandee, I think the two are not related. A person can be healthy and eat pizza, but those who overindulge and are obese is a different story. As you’ll note above, everything in moderation. So we aren’t saying eat all the pizza you want Katy, but we aren’t saying to deny yourself either. If she ate it to the point where she went from being as her sister wants her (underweight) to overweight, then there would be no need to discuss this because she’s doomed either way. Enjoy life, have a drink but don’t be an alcoholic…that’s what I think most of us are saying.

  19. gypsy • February 19, 2010 @ 7:12 AM

Where I live there’s a place that makes pizza with whole wheat dough, topped with fresh veggies and pepperoni its so goooood no moderation for me!The way I see it leave out the drinks, light up a spliff, lay back and enjoy life your own way.Life is way to short to deny ones pleasure,That’s why GOD made us all different!

  20. Jo-Anne • February 22, 2010 @ 5:09 AM

bet Southwest Airlines always has a seat for her…

and life is way too short to advise illegal drugs usage…

  21. gypsy • February 22, 2010 @ 1:34 PM

Also too short to twist MY words,in MY own opinion!!!

  22. Nancy • February 22, 2010 @ 8:16 PM

“and life is way too short to advise illegal drug usage…”

Gypsy said “light up a spliff”…as in a ‘joint’…marijuana. Personal usage of marijuana is not “illegal drug usage”. I thought the coppers were your buddies??????

  23. demigod • February 23, 2010 @ 12:50 AM

    Umm Nance, it’s illegal w/o a script.

  24. gypsy • February 23, 2010 @ 2:58 AM

Original comment I DID NOT ADVISE anybody to use hooch!!It’s called PERSONAL PREFERANCE!!You do understand the difference, don’t you joanne?

  25. Nancy • February 23, 2010 @ 10:03 AM

Umm Demigod, the cops don’t do nuthin if you only have enough for ‘personal use’…so, it’s BASICALLY legal. If you have larger quantities and are selling, etc….different story.

Gypsy Feb. 23 2:58 AM: TOTALLY agree! Never touch the stuff myself but, to each their own. YOU GO GIRL! You don’t have kids living at home and stuff so, puff away woman!

  26. demigod • February 23, 2010 @ 8:09 PM

That’s not necessarily true. That’s like saying if you get pulled over for speeding, and the cop let’s you off with a warning-you can still be charged.
You’ll find ‘personal use’ to be just about every user.

  27. Nancy • February 23, 2010 @ 8:35 PM

I find ‘personal use’ to be less than 1 gram, maybe a couple of joints…not an ounce. Just as, if you are 2 Kms over the speed limit, the police won’t pull you over but, if you are 5-10 Kms over, they will. Not that hard to figure out really.

  28. Nancy • February 23, 2010 @ 8:38 PM

Oh and your comment “You’ll find ‘personal use’ to be just about every user” – pretty much. The cops want to crack down on the growers and the sellers, not the occasional users. If they threw the users in jail with whom they caught with less than a gram, the jails would be overflowing!

  29. demigod • February 24, 2010 @ 1:50 AM

Most users don’t carry around more than they need. They usually have a stash somewhere.

No one gets fined for doing 10kms over. Ask anyone. 15-20kms, yes.

  30. gypsy • February 24, 2010 @ 12:04 PM

Demig that depends if your a chronic or occasional user.Personally I believe they should spend more time getting the hard stuff off the streets! That and alcohol are a definite NO NO,in MY own personal opinion!!!I consider myself very lucky, out of 6 kids,2 son’s and 1 daughter do neither. The other 3 girls drink socially(which I don’t agree with)and 2 toke occasionally, that I have no problem with,so really,I can’t complain!

  31. demigod • February 24, 2010 @ 3:23 PM

It depends more on what you have on you.

  32. Nancy • February 24, 2010 @ 5:56 PM

“Most users” don’t need a stash somewhere. They usually don’t have much at any given time…unless they are also growers or dealers, LOL. Also, coppers will definAtely pull someone over for only being 10 Kms over the speed limit. Maybe not always but, it depends on the cop, for one and also on the area…such as a school zone…”Ask anyone”, hahahahahahaha.

Gypsy: Nowadays, I agree!! They need to get the pills and the crystal meth, crack, etc. off the streets first and foremost! Myself, I drink maybe a 6 pack of vodka coolers a year. That’s it. Never touch anything else.

  33. gypsy • February 24, 2010 @ 10:40 PM

Nancy, dam straight they need to concentrate on the heavy stuff first! That’s whats killing the minds of the youths in today’s society. Two of my grand-kids started doing that s##t,in high-school,with some intervention they have been clean for almost 2yrs.Since I’m the DD when my girls go out I’m positive their not drinking coolers(I wish)when I pick them up their pretty much sloshed.I b##ch at them the whole time I drop each one off,and all they do is laugh,I can’t win.I sure am glad its only once or twice a month,it depends on who the strippers are, once if their lousy, twice if their good. They are their fathers daughters, thats for sure!!!I can’t even hope they’ll smarten up as they get older, cuz I’m pretty sure 2 are older than you and 1 is younger! When they say a mothers work is never done they sure weren’t kidding.LOL Gotta catch the last period of the hockey game,Canada’s winning! You Take Care!

  34. demigod • February 24, 2010 @ 11:46 PM

I’ve never heard of anyone getting a ticket for going 10kms or less over.

  35. demigod • February 24, 2010 @ 11:48 PM

    It’s all about moderation 🙂

  36. Nancy • February 25, 2010 @ 12:10 AM

Moderation is true. I totally agree with you about that!

Gypsy: I like to have a nice cold cooler every now and then in the summer after I cut the lawn. Kick back on the patio and have a cold one. I care about my kids too much to get sloshed. Been there, done that, right up into my early twenties. Dated bouncers, closed the bars. Then I grew up, got married and had kids. I need to be straight not only because it’s what I want but, for my kids. I’d never own all the stuff I own if I did that stuff, LOL.

  37. demigod • February 25, 2010 @ 12:13 AM

Did a search of international drug laws, and was astounded to read the Czech Republic early this year set a precedent, legalizing every known drug out there. One can legally use/possess personal amounts of marijuana,cocaine,heroin,LSD,meth,ecstasy,amphetamines..and the amounts allowed are generous!
They will be a model for future nations. Their drug laws have been lax in the past and they boast the lowest rates of crime per capita.

  38. Nancy • February 25, 2010 @ 10:46 AM

I think that instead of us changing our laws, we should just send our crack-head junkies there then, hahaha. All expenses paid, one way flight, compliments of the government of Canada! Who could ask for more? It’s a win-win situation in my eyes!

  39. gypsy • February 25, 2010 @ 2:56 PM

Personally I don’t think they should change the laws for hard drugs!Instead of going full out on pot growers, they should put all that time and money into getting the devil’s hard core crap, off the streets.I know in England my Aunt told me that first thing in the morning, all the druggies go to the hospitals to get clean fits and/or a substitute if they have no drugs, such as methadone if their a junkie and a speed substitute. This is done 4 times a day to keep the crime rate down, according to her this is working very well, also it is stopping the spread of deadly diseases! The times are posted on hospital doors, so if she has to go there and its not an emergency she waits for the times after they are done,to get any tests needed,or to see a Doctor as most of the straight people do!Over there the Dr’s still do house calls so I guess this definitely makes them more tolerant of this setup!
