Keanu Reeves cleared of assault charge

By Alexandra Heilbron on September 23, 2008 | 9 Comments

keanu_reeves.jpgLos Angeles Superior Court Judge Elizabeth A. Grimes ruled yesterday that Keanu Reeves did not act maliciously when he struck photographer Alison Silva with his car in March 2007 while leaving a parking space. Silva claimed he was struck by Reeves’ Porsche while taking pictures of the actor, but Reeves’ lawyers argued that Silva placed his hand on Reeves’s car, then tripped. Silva’s lawyer, Joseph Farzam, says they will still pursue a negligence claim, which goes to trial in October.  Farzam said Silva’s wrist was fractured when he fell to the pavement and that he has undergone surgery, but remains partially disabled. Another surgery is scheduled. In a signed declaration, Reeves said he stopped the car when Silva fell and gave the photographer water. He quoted Silva as saying, “It was an accident,” at the time.

When I saw the name Alison Silva, I thought they were referring to a female. I know what a pain the paparazzi are and how they are always getting in the way of stars vehicles and in their faces constantly and yeah, if they were to get injured and sue, they could make a nice buck but, I really can’t see someone purposefully placing one hand on a moving vehicle and then tripping….especially when photographers use two hands to steady their camera!! And guaranteed he was snapping pictures!! Doesn’t make sense. Of course Keanu stopped the car…how very kind of him not to hit and run! Oh, and nice gesture with the water…

    @ Nancy

I don’t get the impression that he is all that aggressive. I think we should let the courts decide this one as clearly there were only two people there.

According to the article, the courts have already made their decision! I’m just stating my opinion on the article, which is what we do here on Tribute. If you spent half as much time giving your opinion ON THE ARTICLE as you do putting others comments down, we might actually get some good feedback here.

And yes Jo-Anne, I do spend more time giving my opinion on these topics than I spend on you. 😀

good god Nancy. someone pokes you and you lash out with fangs and claws. and don’t start telling people to pay more attention on the article than on other people’s comments coz you spend just as much time barking on people than providing your highly regarded opinion on the goings-on in hollywood. whenever people say something back at you i’ve noticed, and i might be wrong i’ll admit since i do not spend as much time on this as you do i’m sure, its never as harsh and crass as when you speak back. i have no problem at your way of retaliation but try to see that people don’t swear or go as far as you seem to.

having typed this now, i will expect you to read this (coz i;m sure you go back to every one of your comment to see if anyone commented on it) and reply with a very indignant and, dare i say, hostile response. its ok. go ahead…just one thing though – no more of your happy faces. but hey, who am i to say that?

oh yes, let’s not forget the article: umm, i don’t believe Keanu was in the wrong. i don’t see him deliberately injuring a person. i think it was an accident. people know how insane the paparazzi can be. and seeing videos of how they hound celebrities sometimes i think they deserve getting their foot run over or whatnot. no matter who the celebrity, i think they still deserve some bit of space – you know to move or breathe in.

    I LOVE YOU KEANU.

    HE’S SO HOT!!!!!

ke: I tell it the way it is…straight up, no beating around the bush and expecting people to read between the lines. For instance, L1feless said “I think we should let the courts decide this one as clearly there were only two people there”. Now, to me, that is just a beating around the bush, read between the lines way of saying “you weren’t there Nancy, that’s the courts decision”. Hey, I am who I am…like it or leave it, I could care less either way. Now, I never said Keanu hit the guy on purpose. I said I know how the paparazzi get in the way of the stars vehicles and in their faces and that I can’t see the guy putting his hand on a moving vehicle on purpose. This forum is here for us to give our opinions on the articles….I did that…and then was basically told, well, you weren’t there Nancy so shut up about it and let the courts decide. Ain’t happenin’!!

    Oooops…almost forgot.. 😀 🙂 😀 🙂 😀 🙂 (I know you like these so much!!)

totally with Keanu on this, do not for one second believe he had any intention to hurt this guy.

Have always respected him, seems to be a pretty private guy and likewise photographers, etc. should respect his private space as well. Snap your photos…from a distance.

    and…cheers ke
