Keira Knightley is ‘manipulative’

Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley claims she can be a “duplicitous and manipulative” person. The 27-year-old actress is aware of her more unappealing personality traits and admits she shares the same deceptive qualities as her character Anna Karenina from the film of the same name – based on Leo Tolstoy’s 19th-century tragic love story about a Russian princess who falls in love with a cavalry officer.
Referring to Anna, Keira told FLARE: “There are aspects of her that I don’t like. Then you go, ‘Am I any better?’ I am duplicitous and manipulative and all those things. Hopefully that doesn’t define me but they are parts of my personality.”

Keira is also a very stubborn person, but she believes this trait helped her avoid the paparazzi getting photographs of her drunk, explaining: “When I was very young, I was hounded by these hideous men. What they wanted was the picture of me falling out of the club. They weren’t going to get that out of me. No, I chose very, very deliberately not to, because I couldn’t bear the idea of giving in to them. It takes a stubbornness.”

I think most people can manipulate a bit to get what they want. I’m sure she wouldn’t last in her profession if she didn’t. But also she is clearly smart and along the lines of Tom Hanks, for example, and when have you ever seen him do stupid things? Never. His relationship and his personal life seems quiet. Just like Harrison Ford too. You don’t hear about their wild parties, which I’m sure they did and still do have them. She is a smart cookie and she will having nothing but success in her profession.

    At least she admits it.

I can’t say that about many actors, but I will avoid a movie just because of the fact that she’s in it. I didn’t feel that way at first but when I saw Domino, I just couldn’t stand her, and it just got worst after that.

There’s some actors that just don’t do it for you, I feel the same way about Anna Farris, can’t stand her in anything. Even in Entourage, she was annoying me.

Yeah, when I saw her in Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, her mannerisms bothered me and seeing her face that big, it just made me surprised at how unattractive she is for someone who plays a romantic lead. She looks okay in pictures but on the screen, she’s strange looking.

    OMG!
    Has Knightly READ the book?

Anna is NOT manipulative. She is an intelligent, vivacious woman (clearly UNLIKE Knightly)who is the victim of the social restrictions placed on her gender. She (women in general) is dehumanized by society and simply seeks a way out of the trap that is her loveless marriage and intellectually stultifying life.
She is purposely contrasted with Kitty, who is docile and indifferent to intellectual matters, therefore not bothered by the restrictions placed upon her.

Knightly should NOT be playing Anna. This movie will be a travesty. I cannot imagine Tolstoy would approve.
