Michael DouglasMichael Douglas' fans are supporting a new petition to try to help him visit his incarcerated son. The Behind the Candelabra star is desperate to be reunited with his eldest child, Cameron Douglas, who is being held in solitary confinement at the Federal Corrections Institute in Cumberland, Maryland for drug offenses. Activist Tony Papa of the Drug Policy Alliance, who is acting as an advocate for Cameron, started the petition on Change.org as he believes Michael, 68, is being unfairly punished for his son's addiction. He told gossip website RadarOnline.com: "At first, Michael blamed his son for the mess he got into, but now, he is questioning the Bureau of Prisons and asking why he is being prevented from visiting his son for two years. Prison does not end at the prison wall... It severely affects the family members and loved ones of those who are incarcerated. Michael Douglas is being punished for his son's drug addiction."

Michael took aim at the American prison system during his acceptance speech at the Emmy Awards last month. He said: ''If you happen to have a slip - this is for a prisoner who is non-violent - as about a half a million of our drug addicted prisoners are, they punish you. 'So for my son's case, he's spent almost two years in solitary confinement and right now I'm being told that I cannot see him for two years."

Cameron - whose mother is Diandra Luker - is due to be released in 2018.
