Abominable movie posterJust one wide release coming out today — the animated film Abominable. The biopic Judy, about legendary movie star/singer Judy Garland, opens in semi-wide release, while the thriller Monos opens in select cities. Abominable – When Yi encounters a young Yeti on the roof of her apartment building in Shanghai, she and her friends name him “Everest” and embark on a quest to reunite the magical creature with his family at the highest point on Earth. But they’ll have to stay one step ahead of Burnish, a wealthy man intent on capturing a Yeti, to help Everest get home. Click here for showtimes.

Judy – Legendary performer Judy Garland (Renée Zellweger) arrives in London in 1968 to perform a series of sold-out concerts at the Talk of the Town. As she prepares for the show, she battles with management, charms musicians and reminisces with friends and adoring fans. Click here for showtimes.

Monos – A group of teenage guerillas keep watch over an American hostage on a remote mountain in Latin America. They don’t know why she’s been kidnapped, but their squadron is part of a shadowy force know only as The Organization, and they blindly take orders. After an ambush drives the squadron into the jungle, both the mission and the intricate bonds between the group begin to disintegrate as order descends into chaos. Opening today in Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary. Opens Oct. 4 in Saskatoon and Regina and Oct. 18 in Vancouver. Click here for showtimes.
