Michael Keaton – Batman

The casting of Batman for a live-action film has always been a point of contention amongst fans, including the most recent version played by Robert Pattinson. That has seemed to be the one constant for every live-action film, starting with Tim Burton's 1989 classic that saw Michael Keaton don the cape and cowl. At the time of his casting there was a huge uproar at Burton's decision to cast Keaton, as the actor had been known more for his comedic roles, putting his ability to play the dark and brooding vigilante into question. However, Burton saw something in Keaton and the actor rewarded his director handsomely with a performance that many still argue is the best rendition of the character on film to date.
