Jodie Foster – A Very Long Engagement (2004)

Jodie Foster has had a long and storied career spanning over five decades, and while most audiences are familiar with her American films such as Taxi Driver, The Silence of the Lambs and Contact, few would be aware that she was cast in the French film A Very Long Engagement by director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, based on the novel by Sébastien Japrisot. While Foster plays a minor role as Elodie Gordes, what’s interesting about her involvement in the project was how she was cast. While in France to dub her lines for her role in the 2002 film Panic Room in French, Foster met Jeunet at a Paris café. Since she speaks French fluently, he found a role for her in his film.
