Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington has three films under his belt as a director, with his most recent being the 2016 film adaptation of the stage play Fences. His first came in 2002 with Antwone Fisher. Many of the qualities that would be praised in Fences can be found in Denzel’s debut as the two films can work as mirrors of each other and the types of projects that Washington favors for his directorial efforts. Denzel has taken a break from directing, but whatever he chooses to do next will likely be worth watching.
