Monster (2003)

This film features one of the best and most transformative performances the film industry has ever seen. Playing Aileen Wuornos, a Florida-based prostitute who was executed in 2002 after being convicted of killing seven men, Charlize Theron is unrecognizable. But it’s not just Charlize’s performance that stuns, it’s the thoughtful and sensitive nature in which director Patty Jenkins broaches Aileen’s story. The film excels in every element, from score to cinematography and masterful writing.

Side note: Charlize, who gained 30 lbs. for the role, won the Best Actress Oscar for portraying Aileen on February, 29, Aileen’s birthday.
