The Predator

The Predator had a lot going for it when it was first announced. Writer/director Shane Black was returning to the franchise that he both starred in and co-wrote on the fly, and the film was hyped as a direct continuation of the franchise from Predator 2, ignoring the events of the Alien vs. Predator films and the Robert Rodriguez-produced Predators sequel from 2010. With a new cast of eclectic characters for the titular monster to deal with and the largest budget yet for the franchise, this reboot/sequel felt too big to fail. Then came the reshoots, various controversies and ultimately underwhelming reviews that helped sink the film. Domestically the film finished with just over $51 million on an $88 million production budget.
