Cliff – The Rocketeer (1991)

Long before he brought Captain America to life in the MCU, Joe Johnston was a visual effects protégé of cinematic legend Steven Spielberg. He finally got his chance to direct his own film with the 1991 throwback steampunk superhero flick The Rocketeer. Although it performed modestly at the box office and is often forgotten during that period thanks to Tim Burton's Batman flicks, the film is now seen as a cult classic, thanks to Johnston's direction, aesthetic design and Billy Campbell's performance as Cliff, the titular Rocketeer.
