David Dunn – Unbreakable (2000), Split (2017) & Glass (2019)

Just as superhero films were beginning to take off following the box office success of Fox's X-Men, but before Sony's megahit in Spider-Man, M. Night Shyamalan brought his own sensibilities to superheroes. With his unique vision, his sophomore effort Unbreakable may not come off as a loud and boisterous superhero film, but make no mistake — it is one. Bruce Willis is perfectly cast once again as an everyman in David Dunn, who is slowly convinced by Samuel L. Jackson's Elijah Price that he may in fact have superpowers after improbably being the only survivor of a horrific train derailment. Dunn's superhero journey wouldn't end with this film, as he would make a surprise cameo at the end of M. Night's 2017 film Split before fully returning to the 2019 conclusion to his story with Glass
