Director Brad Bird’s long-awaited sequel to his beloved 2004 animated superhero flick The Incredibles finally saw its release in 2018, but there was no way anyone could have expected the success it enjoyed. Though the original film earned a solid $261 million at the domestic box office and $631 million worldwide 14 years prior, the sequel’s box office performance was simply… incredible. The animated film debuted to a record-setting $182.7 million for an animated film, contributing to its record $608 million domestic total, more than doubling the original, and more than $1.2 billion worldwide gross.
