Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice vs Captain America: Civil War

Time difference: 6 weeks apart.

Warner Bros. and DC’s desire to catch up to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe resulted in the 2016 flick Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, as a way of cutting short the introduction of their trinity of heroes (Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman) and speeding up the process of their own shared universe of films. The decision to partially adapt Frank Miller’s iconic graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns as a follow-up to Man of Steel, and pit the Dark Knight against the last son of Krypton directly affected the MCU. They saw fit to counter with an adaptation of one their own famous event comics, Civil War, for the end of the Captain America trilogy. With both films set just six weeks apart it really became a battle of Marvel vs. DC on the big screen with Marvel coming out on top and the ramifications of Batman v Superman still being felt today by Warner Bros. and DC.
