Roger Moore calls Craig “absolutely marvelous”

Roger Moore holding his autobiographyRoger Moore, who’s currently on a book tour to promote his autobiography My Word is My Bond, told reporters Thursday he enjoyed Daniel Craig as James Bond in Casino Royale, calling him “absolutely marvelous.” Of Quantum of Solace, he remarked, “I am curious. I shall see a DVD just before Christmas. I thought Casino Royale was terrific. I like Daniel Craig. Damn good actor.” Moore, who starred in seven Bond films himself, was knighted in 2003 for his humanitarian work. He recalls, “As an actor, you’re poncing around the world, in the best hotels, the best seats everywhere, everybody worried about whether your shirt’s clean. You’re so busy making a film you don’t have time to worry about what’s going on over there, the abject poverty on the other side. On the humanitarian side of things you see the world very differently. I’m very grateful that Audrey Hepburn introduced me to that world, to open my eyes.” My Word is My Bond was released by Collins Publishers earlier this month.

Sir, Glad you recognise talent, by one class act to another. You were one of the best Bonds, and Daniel is a very different James, a good different. And he is such a terrific actor judging from his previous movies. Your compliments are so sincere and genuine. All the best with your book!

I think this Mr. Moore’s statement will inspire Daniel Craig to try and make more 007 films than Mr. Moore did. I enjoyed Craig’s first Bond film and am looking forward to seeing his latest one. I predict that he will use the next sexy woman very well to get what information he will need to succeed, but I’m sure he won’t make the same mistake again and trust her.
Mr.Moore was the smarter Bond I think. However, both Bond acters are/were great.Congrats to Mr.Moore on his new book. Hopefully I’ll get it for christmas.
    Adios

Moore could never hold a candle to Sean Connery. Sean was the very best Bond ever!!!

I didn’t personally care for Moore as Bond, however he seems like a class act all the way…

Minerva, I am in complete agreement with you, Connery, to me, will always be the perfect Bond. I like Craig, he does the Bond name justice, enjoyed Casino Royale but big letdown for Quantum.

I have watched every Bond film made, as most of us have. I have liked each Bond for different reasons, I find the measure of a man to be more than merely a character he played on screen or tv for that matter. I agree the Sean played a great Bond, and had the advantage of playing the part long before Roger. But Roger brought a very unique style and charisma to the world in his own Bond, and made the character his own. He very successfully gave a serious character a great sense of humour, a very much needed ingredient. In my mind Roger was the only actor that could have done that successfully after the success of his predesessor. I don’t believe Roger to be so egotistical that he is worried about who is the best bond. He may even agree with the last person to comment, However, I am not so forgiving. Roger has given a lot to this world and continues to give a great deal more of himself. Although I have never met Sir Roger, I know that he is undoubtedly the very definition of a gentleman. Bond is more than one actors interpretation of the character Roger understands that and his comments on Daniel Craig reflect that. Craig played a great Bond and I hope he does many more. But I wrote this because I found the previous comment to be inaccurate. Sir Roger, and I hope you read this, you are indeed a great Bond, a great actor in general a great man, and from one Englishman to another, a credit to us all. My opinion of course is that of one very ordinary man. However the Queen seems to agree as his Knighthood clearly shows. Sir Roger, a true and great Englishman.

I preferred Sean and Roger over Craig. Did not like the two new Bond movies with Craig as Bond. The movies were full of violence and action and very little story line. Craig lacks what Sean and Roger brought to the screen as Bond besides looks.
