Romancing the Stone remake planned

Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner in Romancing the StoneFollowing in the footsteps of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Romancing the Stone, a similar adventure movie that was a big box office hit in 1984, is going to be remade for the big screen. The original film, which was written by Diane Thomas and starred Michael Douglas, Danny DeVito and Kathleen Turner, was director Robert Zemeckis‘ first box office success. Daniel McDermott, who co-wrote Eagle Eye, will write the new version, which will presumably have new leads, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The original film was followed by a 1985 sequel, The Jewel Of The Nile, starring the same three leads.

Remakes are stupid. I can see make another sequel using new actors, but the original was good enough that a sequel is completely unnecessary. It was my favourite movie, so I’m kindof biased.

How does this remake follow in the footsteps of Indy? They were never remade.

yeesh.. i guess someone has no new ideas… it was a good movie, but not one that needs to be remade… its not like the 3 leads are dead or anything.. not enough time has past since the original came out. hope it dies in the idea stage!
