Ryan O’Neal bans son from Farrah’s funeral

Griffin O'Neal with wife and daughter DillonRyan O’Neal banned his eldest son, Griffin O’Neal from Farrah Fawcett‘s funeral on June 30th, even though Griffin drove 300 miles with his wife and baby daughter to pay his respects. Griffin, along with his sister, Tatum, lived with Ryan in their early teens, but were kicked out at 15 & 16 years of age, shortly after Farrah moved into their home. According to Hollyscoop.com, Tatum was also asked not to attend. Griffin told Extra, “I just wanted to say goodbye to someone that I knew and loved for 33 years.” In 1983, Ryan was accused of knocking out Griffin’s front teeth during an argument and in 2007, he was arrested for shooting a gun at Griffin. Just last year, Ryan was arrested alongside his youngest son Redmond for felony drug possession of methamphetamine.

    WHO CARES???

We really don`t need to know this personal stuff about any celebrities. We wouldn`t want OUR dirty laundry aired in public. Leave them alone to live their lives. Their movies are our business…not their personal lives.

Margaret wtf are you doing on this website??

    tg I totally agree. Ryan’s a loon.

  8. tributegirl • July 3, 2009 @ 12:19 PM

Agreed, lily, I don’t understand why some people come on here, read the article, then take the time to tell the rest of us that it isn’t our business.
I wonder how many people will attend Ryan’s funeral when the time comes?

  9. Jo-Anne • July 3, 2009 @ 1:20 PM

I guess you mean just as you do. t.g….repetitively ask “choice others” not to comment…

Ryan should not put the blame on his children. He wasn’t a very good father and being threatened that Tatum won an Oscar for Paper Moon and he never received one just tells you how insecure he is.

As for Griffin, his problems were primarily Ryan’s fault. If Ryan had played Papa instead of a Player back in the day, maybe Griffin wouldn’t have had so many problems with Drugs & Alcohol, he should also understand the power of forgiveness. After all if Francis Ford Coppolla could forgive Ryan for killing his son Giancarlo, then Ryan & his children should forgive each other. Nobody is here forever, The Jacksons are living proof of that.

I lost all respect for him years ago !What kind of a Father was he?? Obviously a bad one!
God Bless Farrah,Let her rest in Peace. What a
    A@3*&%$#E is Ryan.

  12. mandee • July 3, 2009 @ 4:06 PM

how can anyone “ban” someone from a funeral? i dont think he has any right to do that, and griffin and his wife and daughter should have just went regardless. also, lynn what do you mean ryan killed someones son? i never heard about that.

  13. Another Nancy • July 3, 2009 @ 6:49 PM

Ryan is a poor excuse for a father. All 3 of his children have drug and alcohol problems.

He and Redmond getting busted at the same time for drugs, what is that about. If Ryan still has a sustance abuse problem I would think, considering his age, he would want to get clean.

  14. no duh • July 3, 2009 @ 7:41 PM

Griffin is the one who was responsible for the death of Gian-Carlo Coppola in… 86..? He was guilty of manslaughter for operating a speedboat while under the influence, which resulted in the death of his friend.

  15. moondog • July 3, 2009 @ 8:56 PM

    heh

  16. jack • July 3, 2009 @ 10:24 PM

what a horrible father Ryan is-terrible-to call his son a bad guy and not forgive him-and to have been terrible to his daughter because she outshined him-

  17. Carol • July 3, 2009 @ 10:57 PM

I think Ryan has been so public about Farrah for his own gain. He’d be crying one minute and then fine the next. And I know people act strange when someone they love is sick and dying, but he is cuckoo..and he really has no right to tell Griffin not to come. He paid for security to get his druggie son out of jail to see Farrah before she passed. I think, unfortunately, Farrah’s illness and passing is all about Ryan, at least in his mind.

  18. Tracy • July 4, 2009 @ 12:24 AM

if griffin and tatum were kicked out “shortly after farrah moved in” and ryan shot at griffin just a couple of years ago, why would they want to go anyways?

  19. mandee • July 4, 2009 @ 4:25 AM

oh and thanks for explaining the boating accident to me. i was born in the 80s so i never heard anything of that.

  20. Don • July 4, 2009 @ 11:52 AM

What a train wreck of a family. No wonder poor Fahhah never married the a**hole.

  21. kait • July 4, 2009 @ 12:10 PM

ryan shouldn’t have done that.. banning people who want to pay their respects at funerals is so wrong. esp somebody who has travelled to their stepmothers funeral! ryan sounds like he kind of failed as a father, maybe he owes it to his children at least to let them into a funeral, jeez.

  22. SR • July 4, 2009 @ 12:11 PM

O’Neal sounds like he’s losing it.

  23. MRDAVE • July 4, 2009 @ 4:42 PM

Ryan O’Neal did not kill Francis Ford Coppola’s son Giancarlo. I believe he (Giancarlo) and Griffin O’Neal (Ryan’s son) were fooling around on a boat (probably while impaired) and crashed the boat, resulting in Giancarlo’s death.
As for Ryan O’Neal barring his son, Griffin, (and apparently daughter Tatum) from the funeral, if you want to see the worst come out in people, watch them right after a loved one passes. Celebrities don’t have the corner on the market of bad behaviour in the aftermath of a loved one’s death.
From everything I’ve read every kid this man has grows up to be a mess. As they say, the fruit doesn’t usually fall far from the tree. He was Farrah’s on again/off again partner for the last 26 years of her life. There was probably a very sound reason she never married him, although he apparently asked her hundreds of times to do so.

  24. Carol • July 4, 2009 @ 7:20 PM

It is a sad situation. Mr. Dave you are so right, death can bring out the worst in people, it can literally pull a family apart at a time they should come together, reunite, forgive past issues….life is too short as we see here with Farrah.

  25. Jo-Anne • July 5, 2009 @ 3:23 PM

sorry, lily, been away, just got back from Camp N.L.T…..

  29. Yerraynus • July 9, 2009 @ 1:05 AM

he shoudnt do that. hes son loved her too

  30. tributegirl • July 9, 2009 @ 6:09 PM

Yerright, Yerraynus! I guess Ryan is an aynus too!

  31. Nancy • July 10, 2009 @ 12:41 AM

Hahaha, Ryan has been an “aynus” for many, many years, LOL. Death is final and anyone who wants to pay their respects to the deceased should be allowed to do so as long as they are there for that sole purpose, not to cause trouble at such a time.

  32. Nancy • July 10, 2009 @ 12:43 AM

I mean, Farrah even found it in her heart to forgive Lee Majors for the things he did to her during her final year. I believe she would have wanted her step children there…especially if they wanted to be there.

  33. lily • July 10, 2009 @ 6:56 AM

    tg and Nancy: lol!
Nancy, what did Lee Majors do to Farrah?

  34. Nancy • July 10, 2009 @ 12:08 PM

Nothing really serious, lily. To me he just seemed really controlling of her. I got the impression that he was jealous of her career and the people she did/would meet along the way. That he wanted her all to himself. I think that is why she cheated on him with Ryan.

  35. lily • July 10, 2009 @ 1:10 PM

Thanks Nancy. I never really liked Lee but I gotta admit, it doesn’t sound like she traded up much with Ryan. I hate how he didn’t let Griffin and his family pay there respects.

  36. Yerraynus • July 16, 2009 @ 3:22 AM

shes cheat? ryan i dont like hes take to much drug an is no good role modle for hes kid
