Early this morning, actors Taye Diggs and Busy Philipps announced the contenders for the 19th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. With the CMMA and Academy Awards also right around the corner, it’s not uncommon to see many of the same actors and titles nominated for similar honors at these prestigious ceremonies. So as with CCMA’s nominees for Best Actress, SAG named actresses Jennifer Lawrence, Marion Cotillard, Helen Mirren, Naomi Watts and Jessica Chastain in the Outstanding Lead Actress category. Also nearly identical to the CCMA’s Best Actor category are the SAG’s nods to Bradley Cooper, Daniel Day-Lewis, John Hawkes, Hugh Jackman and Denzel Washington for the Outstanding Lead Actor Award. Many were surprised to see SAG snub Joaquin Phoenix for his lead performance in The Master and instead nominate his co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role. The SAG awards will air live January 27, 2013. ~Brandon Bastaldo
