Seal calls out Oprah for associating with Harvey Weinstein

Oprah Winfrey with Seal (inset)“Kiss from a Rose” singer Seal is facing some backlash after criticizing Oprah for knowing about Harvey Weinstein‘s behavior and doing nothing about it until now. You’ll remember Oprah stole the show at last Sunday’s Golden Globes Awards after giving a passionate speech about girls and women gaining the strength and momentum to stand together against those who would seek to demean them, referencing the “Time’s Up” movement.

Well, not everyone responded with respect and admiration for Lady O. Seal took to his Instagram to put up a post that seemed to accuse her of knowing about Weinstein’s shameful behavior for some time but still associating with the now-disgraced movie mogul: “Oh I forgot, that’s right…..you’d heard the rumours but you had no idea he was actually serially assaulting young stary-eyed (sic) actresses who in turn had no idea what they were getting into. My bad. #SanctimoniousHollywood”

The image that accompanied his words was a meme that had two photos of Oprah with Weinstein with the caption: “When you have been part of the problem for decades, but suddenly they all think you are the solution.” The post quickly garnered clapbacks against Seal from the online public and even made its way onto news channels.

Oh I forgot, that’s right…..you’d heard the rumours but you had no idea he was actually serially assaulting young stary-eyed actresses who in turn had no idea what they were getting into. My bad. #SanctimoniousHollywood

Now, Seal is trying to clarify what he said, releasing a video on his Facebook page saying he was not attacking Oprah, but merely calling out the toxic state of Hollywood. He also makes a point to fire back at anyone accusing him of dissing Oprah and questioning his “blackness.” You can watch the video below. ~Alexa Caruso

    Seal,
don’t ever be ashamed or back track on anything where you were telling the truth. While I like Oprah, the money and power meant more to her than what any of these young girls would have to put up with to get ahead in their careers. As far as I’m concerned, contributing or hiding his abuse makes her just as guilty.

Seal is the kind of self-loathing Black man that never has anything good to say about a Black woman. If he needed visuals for his comment, why didn’t he use the pictures of Hedi Klum (his former White wife)? She is a big Hollywood business woman with pictures of her kissing Harvey Weinstein? Seal is only backing-off now because folks are pointing out the pictures of Hedi with Harvey. Seal is a miserable jerk–I hope this sinks whats left of his fading career. He is a 1-song artiste that is trying to be relevant at the expense of a Black woman.

Good for Seal! I’m not an Oprah fan. Never have been, never will be! I think she’s as phony as a 2.00 bill!

About time someone said it right

Also don’t forget about the story of Marcus Dixon where Oprah jumped in and took his side when he was accused of raping a fifteen-year-old at his high school. Not the first person to accuse him, and although everything went crazy in the kangaroo court where he was eventually sentenced to 10 years fot ‘ consensual sex’… his conviction was overturned. Wonder who paid for that appeal? Did Oprah believe the girl? That would be a no. Did she listen to the young girl? Again, no. Did she even do her homework to find out anything about this girl other than the fact that her dad was a racist? That’s the third no. All you people out there who love Oprah, need to really listen to the truth yours truly, Family member of the girl who was sexually assaulted while Ms future president did nothing but take the side of Dixon.

Judy Vaughn, I think you mean as phony as a 3.00 bill – 2.00 bills are real currency.

oprah winfrey ? what is her major contribution to society ? oh yeah filthy stinking rich. how ? some stupid talk show. cant stand these people who people think are amazing for talking to people or whatever bullshit is going on in the world. there will never be a female US president let alone Oprah Winfrey. Trump is the perfect buffoon.at least you see exactly what he is . there is no doubt . like him or not hes super easy to predict. f oprah shes an opportunist and carefully looks at every angle of herself so she doesn’t rattle anyone. phony as you can get.

    Where?

Remember Oprah was a member of Jeremiah Wright’s church…remember “God damn the United States of America” ! She NEVER repudiated him and the Obamas were members also.

Kudos to Seal. Oprah is too enamored of “Hollywood royalty.”

  11. Carla • January 15, 2018 @ 12:39 PM

Oprah has never stepped forward to help anyone. Remember Katrina? She flew in for a quick photo op in the muddy ocean, then a quick hop back on her jet and not a single effort to help 40,000 suffering people, mostly black.

Oprah, also known as gather the gold into a pyramid and then sit on it and don’t dare ask for a handout. Female Gordon Grecco “greed is good”.

Are NONE of you able to base ANYTHING on whether or not it’s true? This is all “I love Oprah, I hate Seal” or “I love Seal, I hate Oprah”.

    Your opinions mean nothing.

You don’t think you can really win a debate with hateful words and poorly researched accusations. And, check your own life for things that answer the very same questions you and Seal insinuate. What have you done for society? What was your journey? I am sorry some of you are very angry that she is a smart and generous woman who surrounds herself with like people. Consequently, I doubt that she will see it. May I refer you to Richard’s post? I quote, “Are NONE of you able to base ANYTHING on whether or not it’s true?” (Richard, 1/15/2018 @ 1:31:08 PM)

To Jackson Huard in the previous post….I’m still stuck on the fact he states that there will never be a female president. Who do you think you are…? Can’t wait for the first female president to be elected, that my friend wii be very soon, mark my words. I am a 55 yr old woman and I have come to believe that over the years I realize just how much smarter woman are…we do it all and women out live men in general….so Mr. Huard, look over your shoulder because the next president will be female, hate to burst your bubble!

  16. Angela • January 15, 2018 @ 9:40 PM

Well said Seal! I admire you for sticking up for the truth even though you know anything you say which doesnt put Oprah in the best light will send a backlash your way! Everyone knew about the Casting Couch in Hollywood and anyone remotely involved in Hollywood knew about Weinsteins reputation. It took a lot of women with guts to band together and speak up to get to where we are now. It is a shame Oprah wasnt there helping them years ago when she must have known but we are lucky she, as a woman with so much power, is on board now. We have to be grateful for that! It is just disappointing for many who have lost jobs and careers that this outrage came so late.
Seal is speaking the truth about how hypocritical Hollywood is now that the men in power who abused women (and men) are being exposed, pretending they didnt really know, as long as they needed these mens influence to help them get jobs, money and power.
Dont bash Seal for giving an honest and accurate opinion.

  17. CDubya • January 16, 2018 @ 12:12 PM

Not a lot of people would speak up against the Queen Bee, Oprah. I applaud Seal for that. But really slinging mud around is never a good thing. What one says about another can easily be thrown back.
