A performer fell nearly 30 feet into the pit on Monday night when the cable holding his harness broke during a preview for the musical Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark on Broadway. The accident happened towards the end of the show, with just seven minutes left to go. An audience member taped the accident with a cell phone camera — the footage can be seen below. The show was immediately stopped while the performer, who has been identified as Christopher Tierney, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital. He is listed in serious condition. This is the fourth accident since previews began last month — one actor broke both his wrists while practicing an aerial stunt. Actress Natalie Mendoza, who sustained a concussion during the show’s first preview last month, posted a Twitter message saying: “Please pray with me for my friend Chris, my superhero who quietly inspires me everyday with his spirit. A light in my heart went dim tonight.”
