Steve Carell to make Broadway debut in Uncle Vanya

Steve Carell on Apple TV's The Morning ShowSteve Carell is set to make his Broadway debut in the title role of a new adaptation of Anton Chekov’s play Uncle Vanya. The play will begin previews at the Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater on April 2, 2024, with the opening scheduled for April 24.

Co-starring alongside Carell will be Alfred Molina as Alexander Serabryakov, Alison Pill as Sonya and Anika Noni Rose as Yelena. The play is a drama about a man and his niece who live on an isolated farm, only to have their lives take a turn when relatives suddenly decide to move in with them.

Carell is best known for his role as Michael Scott on The Office, for which he won a Golden Globe and received five Emmy nominations in the Leading Actor category. He also received an Oscar nomination for his role in as John du Pont in Foxcatcher, starred in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, appeared on several seasons of the Apple TV+ hit series The Morning Show, and most recently played a role in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City. He’ll next appear on the big screen in IF, directed and written by his The Office co-star John Krasinski. The film, scheduled for a 2024 release, also stars Ryan Reynolds. ~Alexandra Heilbron
