The Sony hack in November has given us plenty of inside information of industry dealings, but this latest revelation may send comic book fans into a tailspin. Leaked emails by Sony motion picture chief Amy Pascal revealed that Marvel approached Sony about getting the rights to have Spider-Man appear in Captain America: Civil War. Fans of the civil war storyline know that Peter Parker played a major part in the comic book plot. When rumors about the film initially hit, many were concerned about how the story would work without him.
It seems that fans won’t get a chance to see that story come to light. The Wall Street Journal revealed that talks broke down afterwards and Sony has decided to move forward with its own plans for the Spider-Man franchise. Talks also included the possibility of Marvel producing a Spider-Man trilogy for which Sony would keep “creative control, marketing and distribution.” ~Kelly Townsend
