Surfer Bethany Hamilton joins cast of Dolphin Tale 2

Surfer Bethany Hamilton, who inspired the movie Soul Surfer, will portray herself in the new movie Dolphin Tale 2. At the age of 13, Bethany had her arm bitten off by a 14-foot tiger shark while surfing near Kauai’s North Shore. She then went on to become a professional surfer, winning a national surfing title. Dolphin Tale 2 is the sequel to the 2011 hit movie Dolphin Tale that told story of Winter the Dolphin. Winter lost her tail when she was just two months old after she became stuck in a crab trap off the east coast of Florida. She was rescued and taken to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Clearwater, Florida where she was then given a full prosthetic tail. Dolphin Tale 2 will tell yet another story of Winter, this time involving the baby dolphin Hope, who was found orphaned in 2010. The original cast, including Nathan Gamble, Harry Connick, Jr., Morgan Freeman, Kris Kristofferson, and Ashley Judd will return for the sequel. Dolphin Tale 2 is set to be released September 19, 2014. ~Brie Davis
