Susan Boyle hospitalized for exhaustion

By Alexandra Heilbron on June 1, 2009 | 9 Comments

susan_boyleSusan Boyle, the Scottish singing sensation who came in second during Saturday night’s Britain’s Got Talent, was admitted to a private clinic for exhaustion yesterday. She was gracious when dance troupe Diversity was named as the winner, but “exhausted and emotionally drained,” according to judge Piers Morgan, who told GMTV, “Nobody has had to put up with the kind of attention Susan has had…It has been crazy, she has gone from anonymity to being the most downloaded woman in history.” Boyle’s brother Gerry said that he had spoken to his sister and that she just needed time to rest. “She is feeling a bit exhausted. She is a bit tired and maybe even a wee bit homesick,” he told the Edinburgh Evening News. “It’s going to take a wee while for her to get her head round all this because she just comes from a wee village in Blackburn. First and foremost we have to make sure she is happy, and she is – she wouldn’t change all this for the world.” Plans are already lined up for her to tour the U.S., following the Britain’s Got Talent national arena tour which kicks off June 12. Simon Cowell has offered Boyle a recording contract as well, and on the final show, told her, “Win or lose, you had the guts to come back here tonight, face your critics — and you beat them. Whatever happens, you can walk away from this with your head held high.”

This poor woman, going from total anonymity to global fame in an instant, I think she was expecting to surprise them with her audition, but I don’t think she was expecting this. She is an extremely talented singer, and seems like such a sweet person. Wishing you the best, Susan, you deserve it.

wow, im surprised with simon! congrats to susan though for getting a recording contract. maybe thats part of her exhaustion? maybe she has mixed feelings and its too much for her? either way, i hope for a speedy recovery. (i only watched her one youtube video, so i agree she is great, but i dont know anything else about it)

she is awsome and so gracious and deserving. I hope she comes through all of this with flying colors. She is an excellent example of how great things could be if we are only willing to take a risk. Her singing puts chills down my spine…she is truly awesome.

My heart truly goes out to Susan Boyle and I hope she recovers very soon. The media and paparazzi are hard enough on the stars who live by them for fame and fortune like Jolie and Pitt. They use it to their advantage then claim they are victims. Poor Susan only wanted to sing for the Queen….her dream. She has to be commended for being so gracious on stage when she learned she wasn’t the winner of Britain”s Got Talent. And you could see it had taken it’s toll on her. It’s unfortunate she got caught up in ugly side of fame because she didn’t deserve that. Whereas you get the likes of Jolie and Pitt will use it to milk box office sales for their latest movies and their VERY SELF-SERVING charity acts. They make sure they have media in place taking pictures and writing bi-lines to ENHANCE their careers. Whereas Susan, only wanted to sing.

she is suffering from “exhaustion” – why such a dilemma?

she had a dream, she, unlike many others, got pretty darn far in reality to realize her dream, she’s had all kinds of adventures along the way I am sure she would have never thought possible she would experience in her lifetime…so rest up, Susan, and enjoy what you’ve earned…

i never knew that angelina and brad donating money to charity or doing things to help others was such a terrible thing? i really doubt that they are doing these selfless acts of humanity just to increase their ratings, especially when they are barely even in movies anymore since they became parents. that is a pretty poor argument you have there. im sure if susan was donating money and time to help others, the media would have talked her up as well.

Exhaustion, yes it can be a dilema. She didn’t have anyone coaching her, she went on her own to the first performance. People are naive and don’t know the expectations that will get put on them. You can tell people until you are blue in the face how hard it can be, but until someone is in that position, they will never know how overwhelming the outcome might be. But I do hope she overcomes it and does well. She has a beautiful voice and it needs to be shared.
