Director Patty Jenkins has dropped out of helming Thor 2 due to creative differences. Jenkins, whose debut feature film, Monster starred Charlize Theron in an Oscar winning performance as a serial killer, was to begin shooting the film next month. Marvel Studios is scrambling to find a new director in her wake, with the sequel scheduled for a November 15, 2013 release date. Chris Hemsworth (pictured at left in Thor) will be back in the title role, with Thor co-writer Don Payne penning the screenplay. The original film, which was directed by Kenneth Branagh, grossed $448 million worldwide.

While filming Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, the Australian star had an astounding discovery in regards to his health that made him decide to take a break.
He even looks like “Thor” walking down the street. My HERO! One of the Twilight movies came out Eight Months After it was shot. If they can do it so can you. If filming ends the end of 3/12, then 8 months later you could have the movie out 11 or 12/12, or 1/13 or 2/13!! But No we have to wait another Additional Year??? Please no more waits. Especially with modern Technology…
I seriously hope and wish that they would bring in Kenneth Branagh to direct this one too! If it means that they do a GOOD job with the movie, I don’t mind if they take an additional year. Expectations are high on this one; don’t let us down!
– It seemed like a strange choice for her to begin with, although she might have been thinking about a better payday if she got it to work. If she decided it wouldn’t work after all, good on her for dropping out before trouble really started. So far, there’s only been one woman I’m aware of who can successfully direct an action/adventure film: Kathryn Bigelow (Hmm – another K.B.). I hope Kenneth Branagh is available for Thor 2; he did a fine job on the first one.
Why not pay the original director Kenneth Branaugh to direct?? He did a pretty good job.
Thor The second film had no real story. I wanted to see the team that found him and understanding his being on Earth. The fact that the 1st. Or. Others passed is understandable.
