Will Smith branded an egomaniac by former cast mate

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is fondly remembered by many as an integral part of growing up in the era of 90’s TV. It was also the start of an incredibly successful acting career for Will Smith. When the Men in Black 3 star recently posted a picture of a reunited Fresh Prince cast on his Facebook page one person was noticeably absent — Janet Hubert — who played the original Aunt Vivian for the first three seasons. It turns out Hubert has no intention of reuniting with her old TV family. “There will never be a reunion … as I will never do anything with an asshole like Will Smith,” she told TMZ. “He is still an egomaniac and has not grown up. This constant reunion thing will never ever happen in my lifetime unless there is an apology, which he doesn’t know the word.”

Hubert was reportedly fired from the sitcom in 1993 for violating her contract by getting pregnant and was unexpectedly replaced at the start of the fourth season. Despite the contract issues, Hubert openly blamed Smith for her departure, claiming he was the only celebrated star of the show and anyone who was a threat to his solo stardom was dismissed. She also claimed Smith created a hostile work environment for her after her pregnancy was revealed. Smith dismissed the accusations, claiming Hubert had a negative attitude and that’s what got her fired. “She’s mad now but she’s been mad all along,” Smith said in a 1993 radio interview.  “She said once, ‘I’ve been in the business for 10 years and this snotty-nosed punk comes along and gets a show.’ No matter what, to her I’m just the AntiChrist.”

Just because someone is confident, it does not make them egotistical. Granted there is a very thin line between confidence and cockiness; however, I for one believe Will just to be a confident individual and most people are intimidated by confidence.

I wish that Will Smith would do more movies but not prequels or sequels to his earlier films.

Doesn’t surprise me to hear anyone say that about smith. I don’t know him personally but more and more i have been hearing things like this. But to be fair, there are alot of people like that so its….normal? lol

Well I’m sure he was a little bit egotistic back in his early career and I’ve seen interviews and it seemed like he was. But he also admitted to partying too much and spending lots and went bankrupt. Ok that aside, he then seems to have grown up. what happened back then, happened in the past. Whether or not he will apologize is up to him IF he actually has something to apologize for. And his comment was on a radio interview in 1993, so does he actually care 19yrs later??? Likely doubt it. Obviously she does. And if she was a ‘potential star’ she didn’t seem to go anywhere in her career after that. I think sore loser.
