Wolf of Wall Street’s gay orgy scene banned in India and Lebanon

The Wolf of Wall Street has been causing a commotion in the Middle East and parts of Asia, where countries such as Malaysia and Nepal have banned it outright and others, such as India and Lebanon, have cut what they feel are the most offensive scenes. The film, which features 569 variations of the F-word, even had some scenes cut in the U.S., where it was going to get an an NC-17 rating before Scorsese trimmed it for the lesser rating of Restricted.

“Some of the content in the film makes it difficult in certain territories where they have censorship and can even ban films,” Christian Mercuri, president of international distribution at Red Granite Pictures told The Hollywood Reporter. “It certainly concerns us that anyone is cutting our film, but every territory is different.” In Singapore, only viewers over 21 are allowed to see it, and it can only screen in a maximum of nine cinemas in downtown Singapore.

Three scenes were cut from the film in India so it would pass the government’s film regulatory board: a gay orgy; the opening scene, which shows Leonardo DiCaprio using a straw to blow cocaine into a woman’s butt and a scene in which Jonah Hill masturbates in public. In addition, the statement “all nuns are lesbians” was removed because of a guideline requiring all religions to be shown respect.

There has to be more to a movie than the “f” word shouted out over 500 times to hold my interest. This is intelligent conversation and good screenwriting?

I am glad I read this because now I really won`t go see it. What is this world coming to nowadays!!!!! People say nasty things about nuns that aren`t even true. Why do we have to see a gay orgy on the screen. I am sure not all gay people have orgies…. If this is what Wall Street is like, and the movie, then forget it I will not waste my time. Things that matter for example people aren`t suppose to talk about such as all these gang rapes in India. How do people condone that, and allow it to happen and then in these countries they refuse to see that yes there are gay people that exist too. However do we really need to see a gay orgie, I think not. Why can`t screenwriters come up with good movies that don`t offend anyone.

This is a film depicting not only a time frame..but a group of individuals of a certain status and mentality. What? You all really think that the rich and the playboy only party in stuffy social clubs and have nice little tea parties?? Pull your heads out of the ground and give them a shake children!!!
